PPF installation is the process of preparing a car’s paint and laying clear, self-healing urethane film over it, panel by panel, so stone chips and scuffs hit the film instead of the paint. Most of the time goes into what you never see: cleaning, correcting and checking.
Turnaround matters in Dubai because most owners have one main car. Losing a Range Rover or a Porsche Macan for a week means a rental, a borrowed car or a lot of taxis. It also matters because the timing of a quote tells you a lot about the job behind it. A full body promised in five hours is skipping steps. A full body that takes ten days usually means a queue, not extra care.

Why does PPF installation take several days?
Because the film locks in whatever is under it. Every grain of Al Quoz dust, swirl mark or water spot left on the paint stays visible for the life of the film.
Dubai cars arrive with a lot on them. Fine sand in panel gaps, tar from Emirates Road, iron fallout from brake dust and sometimes old polish residue from petrol station washes. All of it has to come off before film goes on. Then the paint is checked under strong light and corrected where needed.
Installation itself is slow, careful work. Each panel needs positioning, squeegeeing, moisture removal, corner finishing and edge wrapping where safe. A full-body job covers dozens of individual pieces of film.
How does Apex complete full-car PPF in two to three days?

- Parallel work. While the car is being prepared, its patterns are adjusted and cut.

- A separate final check. Every panel, edge and corner is inspected before the car is released.
Why do some workshops take five to seven days?
Usually because of capacity, not quality. A small shop with one or two installers has to do every panel in sequence, often while juggling other cars in the same space.
Longer jobs are also normal when the car needs heavy paint correction, old film removed, custom parts filmed by hand or extensive dismantling. That is legitimate. What is not legitimate is a long wait with no explanation, or a very short one with no preparation.
Which cars take longer to wrap in PPF?
Complex shapes, big surfaces and special finishes take longer. Expect extra time on:
- Supercars with deep aero. A Lamborghini Huracán or McLaren 720S front bumper has vents and sharp creases that need extra pieces and care.
- Large SUVs. A Mercedes-AMG G 63, Cadillac Escalade or Nissan Patrol simply has more surface.
- Matte or satin paint. Satin (matte) PPF must be laid with consistent direction and tension, or panels look uneven.
- Cars with old film. Removing yellowed PPF and adhesive residue can reveal paint that needs correcting.
- Modified cars. Body kits and aftermarket carbon parts may not match standard patterns.
Can PPF be combined with other services in one visit?
Yes. Many owners add window tint, ceramic coating or interior protection film to the same booking. It adds time, but saves a second drop-off.

When can I drive and wash the car after PPF?
You can drive the car as soon as it passes final inspection. Hold off washing: the care guidance says to wait 48 hours before washing a car with premium gloss PPF or satin PPF.
Small moisture pockets or a slight haze can appear in the first days as the film settles. They generally fade as the remaining moisture evaporates, which tends to happen quickly in Dubai heat. Do not press or pick at an edge. If anything looks wrong, send us a photo on WhatsApp.
