The best PPF in Dubai is a quality self-healing film fitted by the right installer, and the best PPF installer Dubai has to offer is an accredited studio that prepares the paint properly, uses precut film so no blade touches the car, wraps and tucks the edges, and works in controlled bays. At Apex Detail Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, we are XPEL accredited and fit film this way. Full-body PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT.

Why does the PPF installer matter as much as the film?
The installer decides how the film looks, how long it stays stuck down and whether the paint underneath is safe, so a poor installer can ruin even the best film. Most PPF problems we fix in Dubai are installation faults, not film faults.
Paint protection film is a precise product. It has to be stretched just enough to follow curves without distorting, laid on paint that is perfectly clean, and finished at the edges so it does not lift. If any of these steps are rushed, the result shows: bubbles, dirt trapped under the film, lines where pieces meet, edges peeling at the wash, or worse, knife marks cut into the clear coat.
We see this regularly. Our write-ups on fixing a bad PPF job in Dubai and a BMW M2 with a failed PPF install show what happens when an installer cuts corners, and what it takes to put it right.
What should you check before choosing a PPF installer?
Before choosing a PPF installer, check that they are accredited by the film brand, use precut patterns, prepare and correct the paint, tuck edges where possible, work in controlled bays and register a manufacturer warranty for your car.
- Brand accreditation. An accredited installer has been trained on the film and can register its warranty. We are XPEL accredited.
- Precut film. Ask whether film is plotted from software or cut by hand on the car.
- Paint preparation. Ask what happens before the film goes on: wash, decontamination, inspection and correction.
- Edge work. Ask whether edges are wrapped and tucked, and look at finished cars to see.
- Working environment. Film should go on in clean, controlled bays, not in an open car park.
- The team. Ask who will fit your car. An in-house team is accountable for its work.
- Film and warranty. Ask which film you are getting, and make sure the manufacturer warranty is registered.
- Aftercare. A good studio tells you how to wash the car and what to avoid.

Why is precut film safer than cutting on the car?
Precut film is plotted from software for the exact model, so no blade touches the paint, while hand-cutting on the car risks slicing into the clear coat. Those knife marks stay under the film and show when it is removed.
We use XPEL’s DAP precut software. The pattern for each panel is cut on a plotter, then laid on the car and finished by hand. Patterns can include extra material where the panel allows, so the installer can wrap the film around edges instead of stopping short. Precut also gives consistent results from car to car. Our guide to DAP precut PPF explains the system in detail.
On a previous job, a McLaren 720S rear fender, we used the DAP precut method with full tuck-in, along with full polishing and paint correction before the film went on. That is the standard we apply to every car.
How should the paint be prepared before PPF?
Paint must be washed, decontaminated, inspected and corrected before PPF goes on, because any swirl, dust or defect left on the paint is sealed under the film. Skipping this step is the most common shortcut in cheap installs.
A good installer decontaminates the paint to remove bonded dirt and residue, then checks it under strong light. If there are swirls or scratches, they are polished out first and the extra work is explained before it starts. Edges, gaps and badges are cleaned carefully, because dirt there is what makes film lift later. Only then is the car ready for film.
New cars need prep too. Transport and dealer washing often leave marks that should be corrected before they are sealed in.

What does a well-installed PPF look like?
A well-installed PPF is hard to see: no bubbles, no trapped dust, no stretch marks, edges wrapped or neatly finished, and seams placed where they are least visible. In direct sun the paint should look clean and clear.
| Check | Good install | Poor install |
|---|---|---|
| Edges | Wrapped and tucked where the panel allows | Stopped short, visible lines, early lifting |
| Surface | Smooth, clear, no bubbles or dust | Bubbles, specks of dirt, hazy patches |
| Curves | Film follows the shape without distortion | Stretch marks, fingers of lifted film |
| Seams | Few, placed in natural panel lines | Random joins across flat panels |
| Paint underneath | Untouched, no blade marks | Knife cuts in the clear coat |
| Badges and sensors | Neatly worked around | Rough cut-outs or film over sensors |
A few small marks can settle as the film cures in the first days. Your installer should check the car again if anything does not settle.
What are the warning signs of a bad PPF installer?
Warning signs of a bad PPF installer include a price far below other studios for the same coverage, no named film brand, cutting film on the car, no paint prep, open-air installation and no warranty paperwork.
- They cannot tell you which film they use, or will not show you the roll.
- They promise a full car in a very short time with no mention of preparation.
- They cut film on the car with a blade.
- Their finished cars show lifting edges or bubbles when you look closely.
- They do not register a manufacturer warranty or explain its terms.
- They give no aftercare advice.
Removing a bad install and refitting film costs more than doing it right the first time, so it pays to ask questions before you book.

What aftercare should a good PPF installer give you?
A good PPF installer hands the car back with clear aftercare instructions, an explanation of the warranty terms, and an offer to recheck anything that does not settle as the film cures. Aftercare is part of the job, not an extra.
New film needs a few days to settle on the paint, and small moisture spots can still be clearing. Your installer should tell you when the first wash is safe, which products to use and which to avoid. In Dubai that usually means a pH-neutral shampoo, a soft wash mitt, no pressure-washer jets on film edges and no automatic brush washes. Bird droppings and sap should come off quickly, because summer heat bakes them onto any surface.
The installer should also explain the manufacturer warranty: what it covers, how it is registered and what care keeps it valid. If a studio cannot answer these questions clearly before you book, it is unlikely to answer them after. A good studio is also the first place to go if the car is ever damaged and a panel of film needs replacing, since it can refit that piece to match the rest of the car.

How does Apex Detail Studio install PPF?
At Apex, our in-house team fits XPEL film using DAP precut patterns in controlled installation bays, after a full wash, decontamination, inspection and any paint correction the car needs. Edges are wrapped and tucked wherever the panel allows.
Our 20,000 sq ft studio in Al Quoz gives every car a controlled bay, away from Dubai dust and heat. We are XPEL and Gtechniq accredited, so if you want ceramic coating over the film, the same team can apply it. Before handover we inspect every panel and walk you through aftercare: wait about seven days before the first wash, then wash with a pH-neutral shampoo and keep pressure jets off the film edges. The film carries a manufacturer warranty, and our team explains the terms.
If you want the full detail on how we fit film, read our PPF installation process guide, or see our paint protection film service page.
How much does a professional PPF install cost in Dubai?
At Apex, full-body PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT. The final price depends on the car’s size, the film, the coverage and how much paint correction is needed first.
When comparing installers, compare like for like. Ask each one which film is used, which panels are covered, whether edges are wrapped, whether paint correction is included and whether the warranty is registered. A lower quote often leaves one of these out. Send your car details on WhatsApp and we will give you an exact, itemised quote.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a PPF installer is certified?
Ask which brand they are accredited by and whether they can register the manufacturer warranty for your car. Apex is XPEL accredited.
Is hand-cut PPF bad?
Cutting film on the car risks blade marks in the clear coat. Precut film plotted from software avoids that risk.
Should paint be corrected before PPF?
Yes, if it has swirls or scratches. Anything left on the paint is sealed under the film.
Can a bad PPF job be fixed?
Yes. The film is removed carefully, the paint is corrected and new film is fitted properly.
What does tucked edges mean in PPF?
The film is wrapped around the edge of the panel, so the edge of the film is hidden and less likely to lift.
Does Apex use an in-house team?
Yes. Every car is fitted by our own in-house team in controlled bays at our Al Quoz studio.
Should I get ceramic coating from the same installer?
It helps. When one team fits the film and applies the coating, the order and prep are handled correctly. The film goes on first.
