The 458 Spider is the last of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated mid-engined V8 convertibles, which makes it a car owners plan to keep. Its low nose, deep side intakes and sculpted rear deck look stunning in red, and they are exactly the areas that collect stone chips on Dubai roads.

What did we do to this Ferrari 458 Spider?
We covered the whole car in premium gloss paint protection film. Gloss film is clear and self-healing, so the red paint keeps its depth while the film takes the chips and scratches instead.
| Area | Risk on a 458 Spider | What we did |
|---|---|---|
| Nose, bonnet and front wings | Stone chips at speed | Full film, stretched over the curves |
| Side intakes | Grit thrown up by the front tyres | Film worked into the intakes |
| Engine cover and rear deck | Heat, sun and dust | Film fitted around the vents |
| Rear bumper and lights | Debris from following traffic | Full film, edges tucked |
| Wheels and calipers | Brake dust and grime | Cleaned before handover |
Why does a 458 Spider need full PPF?
Because red Ferrari paint is expensive to repair and hard to match perfectly. A repainted panel on a collectible car also affects its value. Full PPF keeps every panel original, and light marks in the film fade with heat from the sun.
On a convertible, the rear deck and engine cover get as much sun as the bonnet, so they need covering too. Our sports car PPF guide explains which areas matter most.
How did we fit the film on the 458 Spider?
- Preparation. The car was washed and decontaminated so nothing was trapped under the film.
- Large panels. Bonnet, wings, doors and rear deck were laid with large pieces to keep seams to a minimum.
- Vents and intakes. Film was worked around the engine cover vents and into the side intakes by hand.
- Badges. The prancing horse, the Scuderia shields and the Ferrari lettering were wrapped neatly.
- Front boot area. The edges around the front boot were finished with the boot open.
- Wheels and final check. Wheels and calipers were cleaned, and every panel was inspected before handover.
Our precut vs hand-cut PPF guide explains how we fit film without blade work on the paint.
