Why do luxury cars need PPF in Dubai?

Luxury cars need PPF because their paint is expensive to repair, hard to match and central to their value, and Dubai’s roads, sand and sun damage it quickly. Film keeps the factory paint untouched so the car stays original.

A respray on a Rolls-Royce or a McLaren is never just a respray. Multi-layer colours, special effect paints and two-tone finishes are difficult to match perfectly, and a buyer who spots a repainted panel will ask why. Original paint is part of what you pay for when you buy a high-end car, and it is part of what you get back when you sell it.

Dubai adds its own pressure. Summer heat above 45C, strong UV, wind-blown sand and long highway runs all wear on paint. Stone chips on the front end are almost guaranteed within the first months of ownership. Paint protection film absorbs that damage so the paint underneath stays as it left the factory.

Does PPF protect a luxury car’s resale value?

Yes. PPF protects resale value by keeping the original factory paint free of chips, scratches and resprays, which is what buyers of high-end cars check first.

When a luxury car is sold, a paint thickness gauge quickly shows which panels have been repainted. Original paint across every panel tells a buyer the car has been looked after. Film can be removed by a trained installer without harming the paint, so the next owner either keeps the protection or sees the untouched finish underneath. Read more in our guide to protecting your luxury car’s value.

Which luxury cars do we protect with PPF?

We fit PPF on almost every premium and exotic brand on Dubai roads, including McLaren, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Maserati, BMW and Tesla. Each brand brings its own panel shapes, paint types and owner expectations.

Some recent examples from our studio:

Large SUVs, low supercars and grand tourers each need a different approach, which is why we plan coverage car by car rather than selling one fixed package.

Which PPF finish suits a luxury car?

Gloss PPF suits most luxury cars because it keeps the factory shine and adds depth, while satin PPF suits owners who want a softer, stealth look or already have matte paint. Both protect the paint equally.

We fit XPEL films. XPEL Ultimate Plus is the gloss film: optically clear, self-healing and resistant to staining and yellowing. XPEL Stealth is the satin film: it protects factory matte paint, or turns a gloss car into a satin one without a respray. On a white or silver luxury SUV, satin film often makes a strong visual change. On a deep black or dark blue saloon, gloss film tends to make the paint look wetter and deeper.

Our guide to the types of PPF goes deeper into finishes and coverage.

Which areas of a luxury car should be covered with PPF?

Most luxury owners choose full-body PPF so every painted panel is protected and the finish is uniform, while owners on a tighter plan cover the front end, which takes the most stone chips. Door edges, door cups, sills and rear arches are the next most exposed areas.

The front end means the bonnet, front bumper, headlights, front wings and mirrors. This is where highway debris lands, and on a low supercar it takes even more punishment because the nose sits close to the road. Large luxury SUVs collect chips along the lower doors and sills from their own front wheels. Grand tourers with long bonnets show every mark on that large flat panel.

Full-body coverage has another benefit on a luxury car: if you choose satin film, the whole car needs to be covered for the finish to look consistent. With gloss film, partial coverage is possible, but the edges of a partial wrap sit across the middle of panels where they can sometimes be seen. On most high-end cars we recommend full coverage for that reason.

How do we fit PPF on high-end paint without risk?

We fit luxury cars with precut film from XPEL’s DAP software, so no blade ever touches the paint, and we install in controlled bays with edges wrapped and tucked wherever the panel allows. The paint is inspected and corrected before any film goes on.

On a high-value car the install method matters as much as the film. Cutting film on the car with a knife risks scoring the clear coat, and those marks stay under the film. Precut patterns remove that risk. Our in-house team also plans how each panel is wrapped: badges, sensors, aero blades and intakes on luxury cars all need care.

  1. Wash, decontaminate and inspect the paint under light.
  2. Polish out swirls and marks so the film seals clean paint.
  3. Plot patterns for the exact model in DAP.
  4. Lay film in our controlled bays at the 20,000 sq ft Al Quoz studio.
  5. Wrap and tuck edges, then inspect every panel before handover.

Should you add ceramic coating and window tint to luxury car PPF?

Adding ceramic coating over PPF and window tint to the glass gives a luxury car full protection: film for impacts, coating for gloss and easy washing, and tint for heat, UV and privacy inside the cabin.

For ceramic coating we use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light, which bonds to the surface, makes water and grime slide off and adds gloss and clarity. It can go over the film or on areas left unfilmed, such as wheels and trim. For glass we fit XPEL window films, which reduce heat and UV entering the cabin and help protect leather and trim from the Dubai sun.

Combined, these services keep a luxury car looking close to showroom condition with far less effort from the owner. Pricing for coating and tint depends on the car and the package; send your car details on WhatsApp for an exact quote.

How do you care for PPF on a luxury car?

Hand wash a filmed luxury car every week or two with a pH-neutral shampoo, keep pressure-washer jets away from film edges, and remove bird droppings and sap quickly. Wait about seven days after installation before the first wash.

Avoid automatic brush washes, harsh degreasers and abrasive polishes on the film. In the Dubai summer, shade or a covered parking space reduces the work for both film and paint. Light marks on the topcoat usually fade with heat from the sun or warm water. The film carries a manufacturer warranty, and our team explains the terms at handover. Everything included with an install is listed on our paint protection film service page.

How much does PPF cost on a luxury car in Dubai?

Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT. On a luxury car the final quote depends on the size of the car, the film finish, the coverage and how much paint correction the car needs first.

A Rolls-Royce Cullinan or Bentley Bentayga needs more film and more hours than a Porsche 911. Cars with complex aero, many sensors or bespoke paint take longer to wrap properly. Satin film is a different product from gloss. If the paint has swirls from previous washing, correction comes first. Send us the make, model and colour on WhatsApp and we will give you an exact figure.

Frequently asked questions

Is PPF worth it on a Rolls-Royce or Bentley?

Yes. Repainting bespoke luxury paint is costly and hard to match, so film that keeps the original paint intact is one of the most sensible things to add to a high-end car.

Will PPF change how my luxury car looks?

Gloss film is nearly invisible and keeps the factory shine. Satin film changes gloss paint to a satin finish without changing the colour.

Can PPF go on matte factory paint?

Yes. Satin film such as XPEL Stealth is made for matte paint and keeps the finish looking matte.

Do you use precut film on luxury cars?

Yes. We use XPEL’s DAP precut patterns so no blade touches the paint, then wrap and tuck the edges.

Should I get ceramic coating as well as PPF?

Many owners do. The coating goes over the film for extra gloss, water beading and easier washing.

Which luxury brands do you work on?

We regularly protect McLaren, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Maserati, BMW and Tesla, along with many other premium and exotic brands.

Can PPF be removed before I sell my luxury car?

Yes. A trained installer can remove quality film without harming sound factory paint, so the buyer sees the original finish underneath. Many sellers leave it on, as buyers value a car that has been protected.
