The GT4 is a car people buy to drive, often on long weekend runs out of the city and the odd track day. In Dubai that means a lot of hours in a small cabin under strong sun. Tint is one of the simplest ways to make that cabin a better place to sit, and on a car with this much glass close to your head, you feel the difference straight away.
The owner kept the brief simple: tint all round, done properly, with nothing that looks out of place on a Porsche. Here is how the job went and what you should know before tinting your own car.
What was done to this Porsche Cayman GT4?
Every side window and the rear glass were tinted in one visit. Nothing else on the car was changed.
That is all a tint job should be: the right film, cut to the shape of each window, laid on the inside of the glass and finished so the edges are tight and clean. The paint, the trim and the interior stay exactly as they were. When the car rolls out, the only change is darker glass, a cooler cabin and more privacy.
Why get Porsche Cayman GT4 window tint in Dubai?
Because the sun here is strong for most of the year, and a GT4 cabin is small, close to the glass and full of dark materials that soak up heat.
- Heat: good tint rejects a share of the infrared heat coming through the glass, so the air conditioning has less work to do and the cabin cools faster after the car has been parked.
- Glare: low sun on Sheikh Zayed Road or the Hatta road is tiring. Tint takes the edge off it.
- Interior: tint filters most of the UV that fades leather and Alcantara over time, which matters on a car with sports seats like these.
- Privacy: it is harder to see into the car when it is parked, which is welcome on a car that draws attention.

What makes the GT4 glass tricky to tint?
The doors use frameless windows, so the top edge of the glass is exposed when the door is open. Every edge has to be perfect.
On a car with window frames, the top edge of the film hides behind the seal. On frameless glass, the window drops a little when you open the door and the top edge is right there for everyone to see. That means the film must be cut to finish just short of the very edge of the glass, evenly all the way along, with no lifting, no dust and no gap that catches the eye. The rear quarter glass on a Cayman is small and curved, which also needs patience to lay flat without creases.
The other thing to protect on a car like this is the door card. Fitting solution and a GT4 door trim do not mix, so the trim is wrapped and masked before any film goes near the glass.
How Apex fitted the tint
Each window was prepared, fitted and finished by hand, one at a time, with the door trim covered throughout.
- The door cards and seals were wrapped in protective plastic and masked with tape.
- The glass was cleaned inside and out, so no dust is trapped under the film.
- The film was cut and shaped to each window, then laid on the inside of the glass with fitting solution.
- Installers worked the film flat with a squeegee, pushing the solution out from the centre to the edges.
- The top edge on the frameless glass was checked with the door open and closed.
- The car was left to settle, then inspected under the studio lights before handover.

Watch the GT4 tint job
The reel shows the film going onto the door glass, the final squeegee passes and the finished car under the studio lights.
The finished car
The blue paint looks even stronger next to the darker glass, and the cabin now stays noticeably cooler when the car sits outside.

How much does window tint cost in Dubai?
Window tint at Apex Detail Studio starts from AED 2,500 before 5% VAT. The final price depends on the car and the film you choose.
| Service | Starting price (before VAT) |
|---|---|
| Window tint | From AED 2,500 |
| Full PPF, sedans and coupes | From AED 12,000 |
| Colour change PPF | From AED 15,000 |
Many Porsche owners add paint protection film at the same time, since the front of a GT4 takes a lot of stone chips at speed. For a breakdown of film prices, see our guide to PPF cost in Dubai, and for model specific advice the Porsche PPF Dubai guide.
Aftercare for new window tint
The film needs a few days to cure. A little care in the first week keeps it perfect.
- Keep the windows up for the first few days so the film can bond to the glass.
- Small water spots or a slight haze in the first days are normal and clear as the film dries out.
- Clean the inside of the glass with a soft microfibre and a mild, ammonia free cleaner.
- Avoid scrapers, rings or anything sharp near the tinted side of the glass.
- If you see an edge lift or a bubble that does not clear, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will look at it.
What Porsche Cayman owners say
Frequently asked questions
What did Apex Detail Studio do to this Porsche Cayman GT4?
We tinted all of the side windows and the rear glass on this blue 718 Cayman GT4 in our studio in Al Quoz, Dubai.
Is window tint on frameless glass harder to fit?
Yes. The top edge of frameless glass is visible when the door opens, so the film has to be cut evenly and finished just short of the edge.
Does window tint keep the cabin cooler?
Yes. Good tint rejects part of the heat coming through the glass, so the cabin heats up less and cools down faster.
How long does window tint take?
Most cars take around three to four hours, depending on the number of windows.
How much is window tint in Dubai?
Window tint at Apex starts from AED 2,500 before 5% VAT, depending on the car and the film.
Can I wash the car after tinting?
Yes, you can wash the outside as normal. Keep the windows up for the first few days while the film cures.
