The A90 Supra has one of the most sculpted bodies on sale: a long bonnet, a double-bubble roof, and rear haunches that curve in two directions at once. That shape is a big part of its appeal, and it is also what makes it one of the more demanding cars to fit with paint protection film.
Add factory matte paint, which cannot be polished like gloss, and protection stops being optional. If you are looking at Toyota Supra PPF in Dubai, this build shows the whole job, with every photo taken from the video further down the page.

What did we do to this Toyota Supra GR?
We covered the Supra in premium satin paint protection film. On a matte car, satin film is the right match: it protects the paint without adding shine, so the Supra keeps the look it left the factory with.
| Area | Risk on a matte Supra | What the film does |
|---|---|---|
| Front bumper and bonnet | Stone chips at speed | Takes the impact instead of the paint |
| Rear haunches | Grit thrown up by the rear tyres | Protects the widest, most curved panels |
| Doors and sills | Scuffs and car park marks | Absorbs light marks without adding shine |
| Every panel | Matte paint cannot be polished | Keeps the original sheen intact |
Why does a matte Supra need satin PPF?
Because matte paint cannot be corrected the way gloss paint can. Polishing a scratch out of a matte panel flattens its texture and leaves a shiny patch, and some marks can only be fixed by repainting the panel. Gloss film would make the car shiny, so a premium satin film is used to match the finish.
Our guide to protecting factory matte paint with satin PPF explains the film choice, and gloss vs satin PPF compares the two finishes side by side.
Why is the Supra a hard car to fit with PPF?
Because almost no panel on the Supra is flat. The rear haunches and the roof curve in more than one direction, so the film has to be stretched and positioned carefully to lie flat without lines or lifting. Badges, tail lights, vents and tight edges all need patient work by hand.
On matte paint the margin for error is even smaller. Any stretch mark, trapped dust or uneven edge shows clearly on a satin finish, which is why we take our time on every panel.

How did we protect the Supra, step by step?
- Inspection. We checked the matte paint for marks before work began.
- Wash. A full wash removed dirt and dust so nothing was trapped under the film.
- Large panels first. Roof, rear haunches and doors were laid with large pieces of film to keep seams to a minimum.
- Shaping and squeegeeing. Each panel was positioned, stretched where needed and squeegeed flat.
- Details and edges. Film was worked around the tail lights, badges and vents, and edges were wrapped.
- Front end. The bonnet and front bumper, where most stone chips hit, were finished last.
- Final inspection. The sheen was checked panel by panel under studio lighting.

What Toyota Supra owners say
Frequently asked questions
What did Apex Detail Studio do to the Toyota Supra GR?
We fitted full-body premium satin paint protection film to a factory matte grey 2024 Toyota Supra GR, keeping its original matte look while protecting the paint from stone chips.
Can you put PPF on a matte Toyota Supra?
Yes. Matte paint should be protected with a premium satin film, which keeps the original sheen. Gloss film would make the car look shiny.
Why is the Supra hard to fit with PPF?
The roof and rear haunches curve in more than one direction, so the film has to be stretched and positioned carefully, and badges, lights and vents need detailed hand work.
Why not just polish scratches out of matte paint?
Polishing flattens the texture of matte paint and leaves a shiny patch. That is why protecting matte paint is far easier than repairing it.
How much does Toyota Supra PPF cost in Dubai?
Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and coupes, depending on options, before 5% VAT. Satin film is priced as an option on top.
How do I wash a matte Supra with PPF?
Hand wash with a pH-neutral matte shampoo, avoid wax and polish, and keep pressure-washer nozzles away from film edges. Avoid brush car washes.
