Which sports cars have we detailed, and what did each one need?

We have detailed a Subaru WRX, a BMW M4, a 2024 Ford Mustang Mach 1, a Bentley Continental GT and a Ferrari, and each needed a different plan because of its shape, paint and cabin. Here is what stood out on each.

• Subaru WRX: sharp edges, unusual vents and aggressive body lines. Every panel was polished, cleaned and prepped before a multi-layer ceramic coating for water and dirt repellency, and the PPF edges and corners were wrapped and heat-sealed so they would not bubble or peel. Inside, we cleaned the dashboard and added fabric and UV protection.
• BMW M4: sharp contours, lower body extensions and an aggressive front fascia. Multi-step paint correction removed swirl marks, minor scratches and oxidation before a high-gloss ceramic coating. Laser-cut film covered the kidney grille, side skirts and air vents. Inside, leather was conditioned to prevent cracking, and the dashboard, steering wheel and carbon fibre accents were cleaned.
• 2024 Mustang Mach 1: a wide stance, bold contours and aggressive bonnet vents. The paint was fully decontaminated and polished before coating, which matters on vivid colours such as Grabber Blue and deep ones such as Shadow Black. The leather seats, door panels and infotainment system were cleaned and conditioned.
• Bentley Continental GT: curved panels and chrome accents. The chrome was polished with metal polishers to keep its reflection, a premium ceramic coating went on in multiple layers, and the leather and wood trim were cleaned and protected.
• Ferrari: aerodynamic curves and sharp angles. Thorough paint correction aimed at a mirror finish came before a high-gloss coating with UV protection, and the film was edge-wrapped with extra attention to the bonnet, wings and side skirts, the most chip-prone areas. Leather seats were conditioned and carbon fibre cleaned.

The common thread is preparation first, then protection, then an interior plan matched to the materials in that car.

How do we detail a sports car exterior?

We work from the safest, gentlest steps towards correction and protection, so nothing touches the paint until loose dirt and grit are gone. The order matters as much as the products.

1. Pre-wash: loose dirt and sand are softened and rinsed off before any contact, which reduces the risk of scratching.
2. Hand wash: a careful hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo and clean mitts, working panel by panel.
3. Wheels and callipers: cleaned with products suited to the wheel finish, using soft brushes to reach between spokes and around the callipers.
4. Decontamination: bonded contaminants such as tar and fallout are removed, then the paint is clayed until smooth.
5. Inspection: the paint is checked under studio lighting to see swirl marks, scratches and oxidation clearly.
6. Paint correction: machine polishing removes defects and restores gloss and depth on gloss paint. Matte and satin finishes are cleaned and protected, never polished.
7. Chrome and metal trim: polished with metal polishers to restore reflection without scratching.
8. Protection: a sealant, or for longer-lasting protection, Gtechniq ceramic coating.

How do we clean a sports car interior?

We clean each interior material with its own method, because Alcantara, leather and carbon fibre all react differently to cleaners and moisture. A sports car cabin is small, but it takes time to do properly.

• Alcantara: cleaned gently with a dedicated cleaner and a soft brush to lift oils and restore the nap, without soaking it.
• Leather: cleaned with a pH-neutral cleaner and then conditioned to keep it supple in the heat.
• Wood trim: cleaned and protected on luxury grand tourers such as the Bentley Continental GT.
• Carbon fibre and gloss trim: cleaned with soft microfibre so the lacquer is not scratched.
• Carpets and mats: vacuumed thoroughly to remove sand from tight footwells and seat rails.
• Glass and screens: cleaned streak-free with products safe for coated displays.

Sports car cabins are tight, so we use smaller brushes and attachments to reach between seats, under bolsters and around the gear selector, where sand and crumbs collect. Bucket seats with deep side bolsters are cleaned carefully so the leather or Alcantara on the entry side, which wears fastest, is not overworked. We finish by checking every surface under good lighting so nothing is missed.

Can dry ice cleaning be used on a sports car?

Yes. Dry ice cleaning is a non-abrasive way to clean areas a normal detail cannot reach safely, such as wheel arches, underbodies and engine bays. It removes grime without water soaking into electrical parts.

On a sports car, where the underside and engine bay are often as much a part of the car’s appeal as the paint, dry ice brings these areas back to a clean, factory-like finish.
