What did we do to this Porsche 911 Carrera?

We gave this Porsche 911 Carrera a full paint correction and then protected it with XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film. The detail removed swirl marks and scratches from the paint, and the film now keeps the corrected finish safe from chips, scratches and stains.

The 911 Carrera is the heart of the 911 range: a rear-engined coupe with a 3.0 litre twin-turbo flat-six and curves that have been refined since the first 911 in 1964. Those curves are exactly what make it vulnerable. The wide rear hips and the front bumper take sand and stone strikes on every highway drive, and the large flat bonnet shows every wash swirl under Dubai sun.

So rather than a polish that looks good for a few weeks, the owner wanted a detail that would last: correct the paint properly once, then lock that finish in under film.

Why pair paint correction with XPEL Ultimate Plus on a 911?

Paint correction removes the defects already in the paint, and XPEL Ultimate Plus stops new ones forming, so together they give a 911 a finish that looks corrected and stays that way. Correction on its own wears off with washing; film on its own would seal in the swirls underneath.

Ultimate Plus is a clear gloss film, so it keeps the Carrera’s original colour and depth rather than changing the look. It protects against scratches, stone chips and UV fading, and against stains from bird droppings, tree sap and similar contaminants that etch paint fast in the heat. The surface is hydrophobic, so water, dirt and grime run off more easily, which makes the car easier to keep clean.

The top layer is also self-healing. Light scratches in the film disappear when it is exposed to heat, and in Dubai the sun usually does that for you. If you are weighing up a satin finish instead, our Porsche PPF guide compares the films we fit on Porsches.

How was the 911 Carrera detail done?

We worked in four steps: inspection, polishing and paint correction, XPEL film application with DAP precut, and a final quality check. Each step was done in-house in our controlled installation bays.

  1. Inspection. We went over the car under studio lighting to map swirl marks, scratches and any areas that needed extra attention.
  2. Polishing and paint correction. We machine polished the paint to remove swirl marks and scratches, preparing a clean surface for the film. This is the step that decides how good the car looks under the film.
  3. Film application with DAP precut. XPEL Ultimate Plus was cut from DAP precut patterns made for the 911, so no blade touched the paint and no badges or panels were removed. We wrapped the edges fully so film lines sit out of sight.
  4. Final quality check. Every panel and edge was inspected before handover.

You can read more about the cutting method in our explainer on DAP precut PPF.

What does the finished 911 Carrera look like?

The finished Carrera has deep, swirl-free paint with no visible film edges, because the film is clear gloss and the edges are tucked. The design of the car is unchanged: same badges, same panels, same lines.

From the rear three-quarter view the paint finish reads clean across the hips and engine cover, which is where correction and film make the most difference on a 911. Water beads on the surface, and light marks heal in the heat. If you want to see a Carrera in a rarer colour under the same kind of film, look at our Viola Metallic Porsche 911 Carrera PPF build, or our Porsche 911 GT3 PPF build for the track-focused version.

How do we look after the Carrera after the detail?

We offer yearly maintenance plans that include an inspection of the film and paint, touch-ups where needed and ongoing protection. It keeps the Carrera looking as it did on handover day.

Day to day, the film makes care simpler. A gentle hand wash with a pH neutral shampoo is enough, and you should avoid harsh brushes and automatic car washes. Because the film is self-healing, light wash marks that do appear tend to disappear on the next hot day. Bring the car back if you see a stone strike or anything unusual, and we will check it.

How much does PPF and detailing cost on a Porsche 911 Carrera?

Frequently asked questions

Should I polish my Porsche 911 before fitting PPF?

Yes. Film seals in whatever is underneath it, so we correct swirls and scratches first to give the film a clean base.

Does XPEL Ultimate Plus change how a 911 Carrera looks?

No. It is a clear gloss film, so the Carrera keeps its original colour and shine and the design is unchanged.

Do you remove badges or panels to fit PPF on a 911?

No. We use XPEL DAP precut patterns and tuck the edges by hand, so badges and panels stay on the car.

How do I wash a 911 with PPF?

Hand wash with a pH neutral shampoo and soft mitts, and avoid harsh brushes and automatic car washes.

What does a yearly maintenance plan include?

An inspection of the film and paint, touch-ups where needed and ongoing protection to keep the car at its handover standard.
