What is Porsche PPF and why does it matter in Dubai?
Porsche PPF is a transparent or satin paint protection film, fitted panel by panel over the factory paint, that absorbs stone chips, sand abrasion and light scratches so the paint underneath stays as it left Stuttgart. In Dubai it matters more than in most places because the car is exposed to strong sun, intense heat and regular sandstorms all year.
Porsche paint is beautiful but it is still paint. A 911 or Cayenne driven daily on Sheikh Zayed Road picks up chips on the nose, sand rash on the lower doors and rear arches, and fine scratches from washing. Repainting a Porsche panel never quite matches the original, and original paint matters to the people who buy these cars later. Film is the way to keep the factory finish intact.
Modern PPF is a thermoplastic urethane with a self-healing top layer. Light marks in that top layer relax and disappear with heat, either from the sun or from a heat gun. The film also blocks UV, which helps the colour and gloss stay true, and its surface is hydrophobic, so dust and water have less to grip on.
Why do Porsche shapes need precise PPF fitting?
Porsches have deep compound curves, tight panel gaps and sharp edges, so the film has to be cut and stretched precisely or it will lift, show edges or leave paint exposed. That is why we fit Porsche PPF from XPEL DAP precut patterns rather than cutting on the car.
The 911 is a good example. Its wide rear hips and rounded wings give it more curved surface area than most cars its size, and those curves sit right where stones and sand hit. The Taycan has sharper, more modern lines and very precise panel edges, which show up any poor film work immediately. The Cayenne and Macan have large bumpers with many openings, sensors and grilles.
Older protection methods often struggled to cover these shapes cleanly. Hand cutting on the car risks blade marks in the paint, and film that is overstretched to fit a curve can lift later. Precise patterns and careful edge work solve both problems.

How does XPEL DAP precut work on a Porsche?
XPEL’s Design Access Program (DAP) is a library of digital patterns for each panel of each model. We select the exact Porsche, plot the film to those shapes, and lay it on the car without cutting on the paint, removing badges or taking off body panels.
Our process for a Porsche follows the same steps every time:
- Inspect and wash. We check the paint for swirls, chips and old repairs, then wash and decontaminate the car.
- Polish where needed. Film locks in whatever is underneath it, so paint correction comes before film when the car needs it.
- Plot the patterns. DAP patterns are cut on the plotter, so every panel matches the one on the other side of the car.
- Apply and tuck. Each panel is laid in a controlled installation bay and the edges are wrapped and tucked in by hand where the panel allows.
- Check and hand over. We inspect every edge and surface before the car leaves.
Our Porsche 911 GT3 PPF build walks through this process on a real car, from paint correction to tucked edges.
Which XPEL film is best for a Porsche: Ultimate Plus, Fusion or Stealth?
Choose XPEL Ultimate Plus for a clear gloss finish, Ultimate Fusion if you want gloss plus a built-in ceramic layer for easier washing, and XPEL Stealth if you want to turn a gloss Porsche satin. All three are self-healing paint protection films; the difference is the finish and the top layer.
| Film | Finish | Best for | Porsches we have fitted it to |
|---|---|---|---|
| XPEL Ultimate Plus | Clear gloss | Keeping the factory look with maximum clarity | 911 Carrera, Taycan, Cayenne GTS |
| XPEL Ultimate Fusion | Clear gloss with hydrophobic ceramic top layer | Owners who want film and coating-style water beading in one product | 911 GT3, 2024 Cayenne |
| XPEL Stealth | Satin | Changing a gloss car to a matte look without a colour change | 911 Turbo |
Satin film suits darker and metallic colours very well, and it is also the right choice if your Porsche left the factory with a matte finish, because gloss film would change that look. If you are unsure, we can show you both finishes on real cars in the studio before you decide.

What does PPF protect a Porsche from in the UAE?
In the UAE, PPF mainly protects a Porsche from sand and road debris, heat and UV, and the fine scratches that come from frequent washing. It also helps keep the car cleaner and preserves the original paint for resale.
- Sand and debris: sand carried by wind, and gravel thrown up by trucks on the highways, sandblast the front end and lower panels. Film takes those impacts instead of the clear coat.
- Heat and UV: summer temperatures above 45C and strong UV fade and oxidise paint over time. The film’s UV resistance helps preserve colour and gloss.
- Wash marks: Dubai cars get washed often, and dust plus a cloth makes swirls. The self-healing top layer lets light swirls disappear when the panel warms up in the sun.
- Stains: bird droppings, bug splatter and tree sap etch paint quickly in the heat. Film gives you more time to clean them off.
- Humidity and dew: coastal humidity leaves water spots. A hydrophobic film surface sheds water more easily.
The result is a car that keeps its showroom finish, which supports resale value when it is time to sell.

Can you add ceramic coating and window tint to a Porsche with PPF?
Yes. We often add Gtechniq ceramic coating over PPF for extra gloss and easier washing, and window tint to cut cabin heat, glare and UV. Many Porsche owners book all three in one visit.
Ceramic coating bonds to the film surface and to areas the film does not cover, such as wheels and trim, and helps guard against contaminants. If you choose XPEL Ultimate Fusion, the ceramic-style layer is already built into the film, so coating the painted panels is optional. Window tint is the other upgrade that makes the biggest difference in Dubai, because a dark cabin and leather seats heat up fast in summer. We are XPEL and Gtechniq accredited, and our in-house team handles every step in our 20,000 sq ft studio in Al Quoz.

How much does Porsche PPF cost in Dubai?
Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT. The final price for a Porsche depends on the model, the film you choose and how much paint correction the car needs first.
A 911 and a Cayenne are very different sizes, and a satin film or a ceramic-topped film is priced differently from a standard gloss film. Partial coverage, such as a front-end package, is also possible if you want to protect only the high-impact areas. XPEL films carry a manufacturer warranty, and our team explains the terms for your film when you book. Frequently asked questions
Is PPF worth it on a Porsche in Dubai?
Yes for most owners. Sand, highway debris and strong sun damage paint quickly here, and film keeps the original Porsche paint intact, which matters for resale.
Which XPEL film is best for a Porsche 911?
Ultimate Plus if you want a clear gloss look, Ultimate Fusion if you also want a built-in ceramic layer, and Stealth if you want a satin finish.
Do you remove badges or panels to fit PPF on a Porsche?
No. We use XPEL DAP precut patterns, so badges and body panels stay on and no blade is used on the paint.
Can you put ceramic coating on top of Porsche PPF?
Yes. Gtechniq ceramic coating can go over PPF for extra gloss and easier cleaning. With Ultimate Fusion the ceramic layer is already in the film.
Do you protect Porsche models other than the 911?
Yes. We work on every Porsche, including the Taycan, Cayenne, Macan and Panamera.
Can matte PPF go on a gloss Porsche?
Yes. XPEL Stealth turns gloss paint satin without changing the colour, and it can be removed later to return to the original gloss.
Why use an XPEL accredited installer for a Porsche?
Accredited installers use XPEL’s patterns and methods, which gives cleaner edges and a fit that matches the car’s shape. Apex is XPEL accredited.
