Colour change PPF gives a Porsche 911 a new colour without paint. The film covers every painted panel, changes the colour and protects the original paint underneath, and it can be removed later. At Apex Detail Studio in Dubai, colour PPF on a 911 starts from AED 15,000 before 5% VAT, depending on options.

What is colour change PPF on a Porsche 911?

It is paint protection film with the colour built into the film. It does the job of a wrap and the job of PPF at once: a new colour on the outside, and a thick, self healing layer protecting the factory paint from chips and sun.

Colour PPF, paint or vinyl wrap on a 911?

For a 911, we recommend colour PPF. It keeps the original paint, protects it, and gives a better finish than vinyl.

Colour PPF Respray Vinyl wrap
Original paint kept Yes, sealed underneath No Yes
Protects against chips Yes No Very little
Reversible Yes No Yes
Self healing Yes No No
Shows up at resale No, once removed Yes, on a paint depth gauge No, once removed

A respray removes the factory finish for good, and on a 911 that costs value when the car is sold. Vinyl is thinner and does not give the same depth of finish or the same protection. Our guide to colour PPF vs vinyl wrap compares them in detail.

How much does colour change PPF cost on a 911?

Colour PPF on a 911 starts from AED 15,000 before 5% VAT. Wrapping the door shuts in the new colour adds AED 3,000.

The quote depends on the model, the colour and finish you choose, the door shuts, and the condition of the paint. Clear PPF on a 911 starts from AED 14,000, so the colour change is only a small step up from protection you might buy anyway. Our Porsche 911 PPF cost guide breaks down every option.

Do the door shuts change colour too?

Only if you ask for it. With the doors closed, a standard colour change looks complete. Open a door and the original colour shows in the shuts and frames.

If you want the new colour to carry through, we wrap the door shuts as well, for AED 3,000 extra. On the green 997 below, the door shuts and door frames were finished in the new colour.

How is colour PPF fitted on a 911?

More carefully than clear film, because any edge that is cut short shows the old colour. The goal is that you cannot see the original paint at the edges, gaps or curves.

  1. Preparation: the car is washed and decontaminated, and the paint is polished where needed. Film locks in whatever is underneath.
  2. Parts off where needed: on the blue Carrera the front bumper came off so the film could wrap behind the panel edges. On the 997 the door cards came off.
  3. Patterns: colour film patterns are cut on our plotter for the panels.
  4. Fitting: large sheets are worked into the 911’s curves, especially the wide rear quarters, then edges are wrapped and trimmed.
  5. Reassembly and inspection: parts go back on and the finish is checked under studio lighting.

If the paint is damaged, it is repaired first. The 996 Turbo below had its damaged panels repainted in our spray booth before any film went on. Our PPF installation process explains each stage.

Three 911s we have changed colour

911 Carrera: white to blue

A white 911 Carrera went blue in colour change PPF, with window tints all round. The front bumper was removed so no white shows at the shut lines. Read the full 911 Carrera blue colour change.

911 (997) Carrera: silver to green

A silver 997 Carrera went green in full body colour change PPF, alongside an interior restoration. The paint was polished first and the door cards were removed so the film could wrap properly. Read the full 997 green colour change.

911 (996) Turbo: restored, then colour PPF

A worn 996 Turbo had its damaged panels repainted, then a full colour PPF install, window tints, restored wheels and a new interior. Read the full 996 Turbo restoration.

How long does a colour change take on a 911?

Plan for about 5 days, which we confirm when you book. A colour change takes longer than clear PPF (2 to 3 days) because parts come off and every edge is wrapped. Window tint adds about 3 to 4 hours if it is done in the same visit.

We are open every day except Friday, by appointment, with pick up and drop off across Dubai and no deposit to book.

Can colour PPF be removed later?

Yes. When the film comes off, the original paint is underneath, protected from the years it spent covered. Removal should be done by a studio, with heat and care, so no adhesive or clear coat is pulled. Our guide on how old PPF is safely removed explains the process.

If you would rather keep the colour and change the finish, see our Porsche 911 matte and satin PPF guide. If you have just bought the car, start with our protection guide for new 911 owners.

What Porsche 911 owners say

Frequently asked questions

How much does colour change PPF cost on a Porsche 911 in Dubai?

At Apex Detail Studio, colour PPF on a Porsche 911 starts from AED 15,000 before 5% VAT, depending on options.

Are the door shuts included?

Wrapping the door shuts in the new colour is an extra AED 3,000 before VAT.

Is colour PPF better than a vinyl wrap?

For a 911 we recommend colour PPF. It protects the paint against chips, is self healing and gives a better finish than vinyl.

Does colour PPF damage the original paint?

No. The film sits on top of the factory paint and protects it. When it is removed by a studio, the original paint is underneath.

How long does a colour change take on a 911?

Plan for about 5 days, which we confirm when you book.

Does colour PPF show up when I sell the car?

Not once it is removed. Unlike a respray, the original paint is still there and reads as factory on a paint depth gauge.

What warranty do you give?

Film and workmanship are both covered for 5 years.
