What was done to this Porsche 911 Carrera?
The whole car went from white to blue with colour change PPF, and the windows were tinted. That is the full job: a new colour on every painted panel, plus tint on the glass, done in house in our Al Quoz studio.
Colour change PPF is a paint protection film with the colour built into it. It does what a vinyl wrap does to the look of the car, but it is a thicker, self healing protection film, so the factory white paint underneath stays covered against stone chips, light scratches and the sun. If the owner ever wants the white back, the film comes off and the original paint is still there. For a car like a 911, where original paint matters at resale, that is a big part of the appeal.
If you want the colour change look explained in more depth, our 911 997 colour change and interior restoration shows another 911 we took through a full colour change.
Why choose colour change PPF over a respray?
Colour PPF changes the colour without touching the paint, and it protects while it does it. A respray removes the factory finish for good.
On a Porsche that is the deciding point for most owners. A full respray is permanent, it shows up in paint depth readings when the car is sold, and it gives the new colour no protection at all. Colour change PPF keeps the original paint sealed underneath and adds a protective layer on top. In Dubai, where cars live with sand, highway debris and strong sun all year, that extra layer earns its place.
Compared to a standard vinyl wrap, colour PPF is thicker and self healing, so light swirls and marks fade with heat. It is the more durable choice if you plan to keep the colour for years rather than months.
How was the blue film fitted on the 911?
The film was laid panel by panel by our installers, with the front bumper taken off so the film could be wrapped around the edges instead of stopping short of them.
A colour change only looks right if you cannot see white at the edges, gaps and curves. That is why parts like the front bumper come off: the film can then be wrapped behind the panel edge, so when the car is reassembled there is no white line showing at the shut lines. Large sheets of film were held up to each panel, positioned, then worked into the curves of the 911’s wide rear quarters, which are some of the hardest shapes on any car to wrap cleanly.
Step by step on this Porsche 911 Carrera
These stills come from the reel of this car, so every image below is this exact 911.

Watch the 911 Carrera colour change
The reel follows the car from white to blue in under 20 seconds: the film being laid, the bumper off, and the finished car under the studio lights.
What does the before and after look like?
The clearest way to see the change is the same part of the car, before and after. Here is the door mirror in the original white, then wrapped in the blue film.

Why add window tint at the same time?
Tint and colour PPF were done in the same visit, so the car came back finished in one go, with the darker glass suiting the new blue.
In Dubai, window tint is as much about comfort as looks. Good tint cuts heat and glare in the cabin and helps protect the interior, which on this car is red leather. Doing it during the same visit means one booking and one handover. You can read more about our tint work on the window tint Dubai page.

Frequently asked questions
What did Apex Detail Studio do to this Porsche 911 Carrera?
We changed the car from white to blue with full colour change PPF and fitted window tints, all in our studio in Al Quoz, Dubai.
Does colour change PPF damage the original paint?
No. The film sits on top of the factory paint and protects it. If it is removed properly, the original colour is still underneath.
Is colour change PPF the same as a vinyl wrap?
No. Both change the colour, but colour PPF is a thicker, self healing protection film, so it also guards the paint against chips and light scratches.
Why was the front bumper removed?
Taking the bumper off lets the film wrap around the panel edges, so no white shows at the gaps once the car is put back together.
How much is colour change PPF in Dubai?
Colour PPF starts from AED 15,000 before 5% VAT, depending on options. Window tint starts from AED 2,500 before VAT.
Can I go back to the original colour later?
Yes. Colour PPF can be removed, and the factory paint it was protecting will be underneath.
Can I get tints done at the same time?
Yes. This 911 had colour PPF and window tints in the same visit, so it came back fully finished.
