Why does a Raptor need paint protection?
The Raptor is built to be used, and use is hard on paint. The main threats in the UAE are:
- Stone chips thrown up by its own large tyres and by traffic ahead.
- Sand abrasion on the lower doors, arches and front end after desert driving.
- UV damage that fades and dries paint left in the sun.
- Wash marks from sand being dragged across the paint during cleaning.

What is XPEL Stealth?
XPEL Stealth is a satin-finish paint protection film. It has the same protective urethane body as a clear film, but its top layer turns gloss paint into a smooth satin look. It is not a paint and not a vinyl wrap: it is a thick, self-healing film that protects the paint while changing its appearance.

What changes visually?
On a gloss truck, reflections dominate. In satin, the Raptor’s wide fenders, vented bonnet and hard body lines become the focus. The truck looks more solid and more purposeful, and it reads as factory rather than modified. It is a refinement of the Raptor’s character, not a disguise.
How we installed it
- Wash and decontamination: a full wash, iron and tar removal, then inspection under strong lighting.
- Light correction: matte film shows imperfections underneath it, so any marring was corrected first.
- Computer-cut patterns: digital patterns for the Raptor, test-fitted panel by panel, so no blades touch the paint on the car.
- Installation in a controlled bay: clean air, good lighting and dedicated PPF technicians. Edges wrapped where possible and seams kept to a minimum.
- Curing and final checks: edges rechecked, any moisture pockets dealt with, and a final inspection under several light sources.

Looking after a matte Raptor
- No polishing and no waxing, ever.
- Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo.
- Rinse sand off before touching the paint, especially after desert trips.
- Remove bird droppings and bug splatter quickly.
Because the film is hydrophobic, dust and sand release more easily than from bare paint, which helps a lot in Dubai.
Resale value
When the film is eventually removed, the factory paint underneath is in the condition it was protected in, with no respray history. For a truck that holds its value well, that matters to the next buyer.

Frequently asked questions
Is matte PPF good for off-roading?
Yes. It absorbs sand and stone impacts that would otherwise mark the paint, and damaged panels can be re-filmed without repainting.
Does matte PPF turn shiny over time?
Not with correct care. Polishing, waxing or harsh brushes can affect the finish, so stick to a gentle hand wash.
Can I have only part of the truck in matte film?
You can, but the finish will differ between filmed and unfilmed panels. Most owners choose full body for an even look.
