Partial PPF Packages in Dubai: The Smartest Panels to Protect First

Not every car needs full-body film. Here is the order in which to protect panels, what each partial PPF package covers and what drives the price in Dubai.

If you protect only part of your car in Dubai, start with the front bumper, then the full bonnet, front wings and mirrors. Next come headlights, rocker panels, rear arches and door edges. Partial PPF at Apex Detail Studio is priced on inspection; full-body PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT.

Key facts

  • Priority order: front bumper, bonnet, front wings, mirrors, headlights, then lower sides and rear arches.
  • Price: partial packages priced on inspection; full body from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT.
  • Interior protection film for gloss-black trim and screens from AED 2,000.
  • Biggest trade-off: a visible film line where coverage stops mid-panel.
  • Best for: leased cars, older daily drivers, budget-conscious owners and highway commuters.

Partial PPF is paint protection film applied only to selected high-risk panels or zones of a car, rather than the whole body. Paint protection film itself is a clear, self-healing urethane layer that absorbs stone chips, scuffs and light scratches before they reach the paint.

The reason partial packages exist is simple: damage on a Dubai car is not evenly spread. Drive a white Range Rover Sport from Arabian Ranches to DIFC every day for a year and look closely. The bumper and bonnet nose will be chipped, the mirrors pitted, the lower doors sandblasted behind the front wheels and the boot sill scratched from luggage. The roof and upper doors will look almost new.

So the smart question is not “how much film?” but “which panels first?” This guide ranks them and shows what each package actually costs you in coverage.

Which panels should I protect first with PPF?

Protect the panels that face the road first, then the panels your own tyres and passengers damage. The front bumper always comes first.

Priority Panel or zone Why it gets damaged in Dubai Recommended for
1 Front bumper Lowest, most forward surface; takes gravel and sand at speed Every car
2 Bonnet (full, not partial) Debris lifted by the car in front lands on the nose and centre Every car
3 Front wings Wheel spray and side impacts from overtaking trucks Every car
4 Mirror caps Pitted by highway debris, clipped in car parks Every car
5 Headlights Lenses pit and haze from sand and UV Cars with costly LED or laser units
6 Rocker panels and lower doors Sandblasting from your own front tyres SUVs, lowered cars, desert drivers
7 Rear arches and rear bumper top Tyre spray on wide-hip cars; luggage scratches on the sill Porsche 911, Cayenne, family SUVs
8 Door edges and handle cups Door dings, rings and fingernails Daily drivers, family cars
9 A-pillars and roof leading edge Stone strikes above the windscreen line Highway commuters, tall SUVs

Owners often skip the full bonnet and buy a “bonnet strip” instead. That is the most common false economy. Chips simply move to the unprotected part of the bonnet, and the strip leaves a line that collects dust.

What are the common partial PPF packages?

Most partial packages are built around four levels, from a small kit to almost full-body coverage. The names vary between installers, so always ask for a panel list.

1. Partial front (bonnet kit)

Front bumper, the first 30 to 60 cm of the bonnet, the leading edge of the wings and the mirrors. It is the cheapest entry point, but the film line across the bonnet is visible, especially on dark colours.

2. Full front

Front bumper, full bonnet, full wings, mirrors and usually headlights. No film line on the front panels. This is the sensible minimum for anyone who uses Sheikh Zayed Road or the E311 daily. Our article on what full-front PPF covers and who needs it goes deeper.

3. Full front plus high-impact zones

Everything in full front, plus rocker panels, rear arches, door edges, handle cups and the boot loading sill. Sometimes called a “track pack” abroad. It catches the second wave of Dubai damage: sand from your own tyres and car park wear.

4. Targeted add-ons

Single zones added to any package: A-pillars and roof leading edge, headlights only, or interior protection film for gloss-black trim and screens. Interior film starts from AED 2,000 before 5% VAT at Apex.

How much does partial PPF cost in Dubai?

Partial PPF at Apex Detail Studio is priced on inspection. Film area, bumper complexity and paint condition differ too much between models for a single list price to be honest.

Here is where partial packages sit against our published full-body tiers, so you can judge the value:

Package Coverage From AED (before 5% VAT)
Partial front (bonnet kit) Bumper, part bonnet, wing edges, mirrors Priced on inspection
Full front Bumper, full bonnet, full wings, mirrors, headlights Priced on inspection
Full front plus high-impact zones Full front plus rockers, rear arches, door edges, sill Priced on inspection
Interior protection film Gloss-black trim, screens, consoles from AED 2,000
Full PPF, sedan Every painted panel AED 12,000
Full PPF, SUV or truck Every painted panel AED 13,500
Colour PPF A new colour that also protects the paint AED 15,000

As a rule of thumb, once you add high-impact zones to a full front, the gap to entry-tier full body narrows. That is the point to get both quotes side by side. Our 2026 guide to PPF cost in Dubai explains each full-body tier and upgrade.

What changes a partial PPF quote?

  • Film tier. Entry or premium tier film, or satin (matte) PPF for satin paint.
  • Panel size. A Nissan Patrol bonnet is roughly twice the film of a Mini Cooper bonnet.
  • Bumper design. Deep intakes, splitters and sensor clusters on an AMG, M or RS car take longer.
  • Edge treatment. Wrapped edges where safe cost more labour than cut-short edges, and look far better.
  • Paint condition. Existing chips and swirls need correcting before film goes on.

Is partial PPF worth it, or should I go full body?

Partial PPF is worth it when you want chip protection at a lower spend and you accept that the sides and rear stay exposed. Full body is better for new, dark, matte or high-value cars you plan to keep.

Your situation Best choice
Leased car, returning in two to three years Full front, possibly plus door edges
Older daily driver with sound paint Full front after light correction
Desert weekends in an SUV Full front plus rockers and rear arches
New performance or luxury car, keeping long term Full-body PPF
Factory matte paint Full-body satin (matte) PPF, since partial satin film leaves visible transitions

Leasing raises its own questions about return condition and removal. Read whether PPF is worth it on a leased car in Dubai before deciding.

Will partial PPF leave a visible line?

Only where coverage stops in the middle of a panel. Full-panel coverage hides its edges at panel gaps, so the film is almost invisible.

A mid-panel line is most visible on black, dark blue and metallic grey paint, and on matte paint at any colour. Over time, dust can gather along that edge and paint outside the film can age slightly differently in strong UV. That is why we recommend full panels rather than strips wherever possible, even on smaller packages.

How Apex Detail Studio does it

Every partial package at Apex Detail Studio goes through the same process as full-body work, inside our 20,000 sq ft Al Quoz studio. We are XPEL and Gtechniq accredited, with a team of 41 across preparation, installation and quality control.

  1. Inspection and coverage plan. We inspect the paint and ask how you drive, then recommend panels based on real risk.
  2. Wash and decontamination. Sand, tar and fallout are removed before any film is cut.
  3. Paint correction where needed. Film magnifies defects, so they are corrected first.
  4. Digital patterns. Vehicle-specific patterns are adjusted in software and plotter-cut, minimising blade work on the paint.
  5. Installation. The film is laid with edges wrapped where safe, and sensors and cameras treated carefully.
  6. Final inspection. Every panel, edge and corner is checked before release.

What should I send for an accurate partial PPF quote?

Send your car details, how you drive and which panels you are considering. A short message is enough for a first figure.

  • Make, model, year and colour.
  • Your typical routes: city only, daily highway, or desert weekends.
  • How long you plan to keep the car, and whether it is leased.
  • Photos of the front end and any existing chips or repairs.
  • The package level you are leaning towards.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best partial PPF package for Dubai?

For most cars, full front: the front bumper, full bonnet, full front wings, mirrors and usually headlights. It covers the panels that take most highway stone chips without a film line on the front panels. Add rocker panels and rear arches if you drive an SUV in the desert or often on unpaved roads.

How much does partial PPF cost in Dubai?

At Apex Detail Studio, partial PPF packages are priced on inspection, because film area and labour vary by model. Send your make, model, year and colour on WhatsApp for a figure. For comparison, full-body PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT.

Is a bonnet strip enough protection?

Usually not. A bonnet strip covers only the leading part of the bonnet, so chips simply appear just beyond the film. It also leaves a visible line that collects dust and shows clearly on dark paint. Full bonnet coverage is the better value in Dubai conditions.

Can I add more PPF panels later?

Yes. Panels can be added at any time, and using the same film line keeps the finish consistent. Many owners start with full front, then add rocker panels, rear arches or door edges after the first year once they see where their car actually picks up damage.

Does partial PPF work on matte paint?

It can, using satin (matte) PPF, but transitions between filmed and unfilmed areas are easier to see on matte paint. For factory matte finishes we generally recommend full-body XPEL STEALTH so the whole car ages evenly.

Is partial PPF worth it on an older car?

Yes, if the paint is sound. A light paint correction followed by full-front PPF stops new chips and keeps the front looking fresh for resale. If the front already has many deep chips, a repair or respray may be needed first, and fresh paint must cure before any film goes on.
