PPF on a leased car in Dubai is often worth it when the lease runs for two years or more, includes regular highway driving, or the leasing company charges for paint damage at return. Film absorbs stone chips and light scratches that might otherwise appear on a return inspection, and it can be removed professionally at the end of the lease.

Check your lease agreement first and ask the leasing company whether film is allowed. A front-end package is usually the best value on a lease; full body at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before VAT.
Key facts
- Check first: your lease agreement and the leasing company’s rules on modifications and film.
- Main benefit: fewer chips and scratches on the paint when the car is inspected at return.
- Best value: a front-end package covering bumper, bonnet, wings and mirrors is quoted per car.
- Full PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks, and colour PPF from AED 15,000, depending on options, before 5% VAT.
- At return: film can be removed professionally, or left on if the leasing company agrees.

Leasing is popular in Dubai, both for personal cars and through employers. You drive a new car, hand it back at the end of the term, and the leasing company inspects it. Stone chips on the bonnet, scuffed bumper corners and scratches near the door handles are among the most common things picked up at that inspection.
Paint protection film can help, but it is not automatically worth the money on every lease. This guide looks at when PPF makes financial sense on a leased car, what to check in your contract, which coverage to choose and what happens to the film when the car goes back.
Can you put PPF on a leased car in Dubai?
In many cases, yes, but check your lease agreement and ask the leasing company before booking. Leasing companies set their own rules on modifications, and some ask for written approval before anything is fitted to the car.
Clear gloss PPF is usually seen as a protective, removable addition rather than a modification, because it does not change the colour or the look of the car. Coloured film or a satin finish on a gloss car changes the appearance, so it is more likely to need approval. Confirm in writing whether the film must be removed at return and who is responsible for removal.

When is PPF worth it on a lease?
PPF is most likely to pay off on longer leases with a lot of highway driving, on cars with paint that is expensive to repair, and where the lease charges for cosmetic damage at return.
| Lease situation | Is PPF worth it? | Suggested coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Long lease with daily highway commuting | Usually yes | Front end or full body |
| Premium or dark-coloured car | Usually yes | Full front at minimum |
| Lease charges for chips at return | Often yes | Front end |
| Short lease, mostly city driving | Maybe not | Front end or none |
| Lease includes generous wear allowance | Less clear | Compare cost with likely charges |
Compare the cost of film with what the leasing company might charge for repairs at return. Ask for their wear and tear guidelines if they publish them. Our article on what PPF protects against explains the realistic benefits.
Which PPF coverage makes sense for a leased car?
A front-end package is usually the best value on a lease. It covers the bumper, bonnet, front wings and mirrors, which take most stone chips on Dubai highways. Add door edges, door cups and the rear bumper loading area if those are common return-inspection points.
- Front-end package: bumper, bonnet, wings and mirrors. Quoted per car.
- Extended front: adds A-pillars, sills and roof edge for heavy highway use.
- High-wear extras: door cups, door edges and rear bumper top where bags and keys scratch the paint.
- Full PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks, and colour PPF from AED 15,000, depending on options, before 5% VAT.
Our guides to full-front PPF and partial PPF packages explain the trade-offs, including visible film lines on partial coverage.
What happens to the film when the lease ends?
At the end of the lease, the film is either removed professionally or left on if the leasing company agrees. Healthy factory paint should not be damaged when premium film is removed correctly.
Removal takes care, heat and patience. Peeling film off in a hurry, especially old or sun-baked film, can leave adhesive behind. Ask the leasing company in advance what they prefer, and book removal before your return date if needed. Our guide to how old PPF is safely removed covers the process.
What should be inspected before PPF goes on a leased car?
Inspect the car before film is fitted and keep a record. This protects you at return as much as the film does.
- Photograph every panel in good light on the day you collect the car.
- Note any delivery chips, scratches or dealer repairs and report them to the leasing company.
- Check for transport residue and swirl marks that could be sealed under the film.
- Confirm with the installer which panels will be covered and where seams will sit.
- Keep the installer’s invoice and warranty details with your lease paperwork.
Our new-car PPF checklist has a fuller list of what to inspect.
Does PPF affect the leasing company’s inspection?
PPF itself should not cause problems if it is clean, well installed and allowed under your lease. The inspector will look at the paint and panels; damaged or lifting film may be noted, so keep the film in good condition and fix any issues before return.
If the film has done its job, the paint underneath should be in close to delivery condition. That is the main reason owners fit it. We cannot predict any leasing company’s decision, so confirm their process directly.

Frequently asked questions
Is PPF worth it on a leased car?
Often, if the lease is long, includes highway driving or charges for paint damage at return. On a short lease with light city driving, the cost may outweigh the benefit. Compare the film price with likely return charges.
Do I need permission to put PPF on a leased car?
Check your lease agreement and ask the leasing company. Clear film is usually treated as a removable protective layer, but rules differ, and coloured or satin film is more likely to need approval.
How much does PPF cost on a leased car in Dubai?
Full PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks, and colour PPF from AED 15,000, depending on options, before 5% VAT.
Can PPF be removed when the lease ends?
Yes. Premium film can be removed professionally without damaging healthy factory paint. Removal should be done carefully with heat, and booked before your return date.
Will PPF damage the paint on a leased car?
Not when premium film is installed and removed correctly on healthy factory paint. Problems are more likely on previously repainted panels, which is why we inspect and record the paint before installation.
How long does PPF installation take?
A front-end package is usually quicker than full body. A standard full-body installation generally takes two to three days, and we confirm timing after inspection.
