XPEL is a paint protection film manufacturer whose ULTIMATE PLUS, STEALTH and ULTIMATE PLUS 10 films are clear, self-healing urethane layers installed over factory paint. They take the stone chips, sand abrasion and wash marks that would otherwise land on your clear coat.
In Dubai, that matters more than in most cities. A daily run down the E311 puts the front of a car in the spray of construction trucks. Summer surface temperatures bake bird droppings and bug residue into paint within an afternoon. Which XPEL film should I choose?
Choose XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS for clear gloss protection, XPEL STEALTH for a satin finish, and XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS 10 if you drive long highway distances and want a thicker film. Most owners in Dubai are best served by ULTIMATE PLUS.

The thickness figures come from XPEL’s technical data sheets and exclude the release liner. The thicker urethane layer in ULTIMATE PLUS 10 (203 microns against 152 microns in standard ULTIMATE PLUS) gives more material to absorb a sharp impact.
STEALTH changes the look of every panel it covers. On a factory matte BMW M5 or a Mercedes-AMG G 63 in magno paint, it protects a finish that cannot be polished or spot-repaired. Does XPEL PPF really self-heal?
Yes, for light scratches and swirl marks in the topcoat. XPEL’s clearcoat uses elastomeric polymers that let fine scratches level out with heat, so the film does not need regular polishing.
Dubai helps here. Parking in the sun or rinsing with warm water is usually enough for fine wash marks to fade. Deep cuts that go through the topcoat into the urethane do not heal and the panel may need new film.
What does the XPEL warranty cover?
XPEL’s published warranty covers ULTIMATE PLUS and STEALTH for 10 years from initial installation against yellowing, cracking, blistering and delaminating. It covers defects in the film, not damage from the outside world.
According to XPEL’s warranty terms, the film must be professionally installed as XPEL recommends, and a claim needs the warranty card and the original receipt showing the coverage areas. If a claim is approved, XPEL removes or replaces the film through an authorised installer and covers parts and labour. The warranty is transferable with proof of the installation date, which helps at resale.
Key exclusions to know before you book:
- Rock and road debris impacts, collisions, vandalism and hail.
- Stains and scratches, and damage from improper washing, automatic car washes or incorrect tools.
- Film installed over paint that already had visible defects.
- Areas not re-wrapped after a paint or body repair.
- Use of non-XPEL branded ceramic coatings on the film.

How long does XPEL installation take?
A standard full-body XPEL installation at Apex Detail Studio is generally completed in two to three days. Paint correction, a complex body or extra coverage can add time.
Day one usually covers inspection, wash, decontamination and any paint correction. Film goes on panel by panel after that, followed by edge finishing and a full inspection. Our guide to how long PPF installation takes breaks down each stage.
How Apex Detail Studio installs XPEL PPF
We are an XPEL accredited studio, and every car goes through the same steps in our 20,000 sq ft facility in Al Quoz Industrial 3, with a team of 41 across preparation, installation and quality control.
- Inspection. We check paint depth, previous repairs, existing film and accessories before confirming the film and coverage.
- Wash and decontamination. Sand, iron fallout and tar are removed from every surface the film will touch.
- Paint assessment and correction. Swirls and defects are corrected where needed, because XPEL’s warranty excludes film laid over visibly defective paint.
- Digital patterns. Vehicle-specific XPEL patterns are adjusted in software and plotter-cut, keeping blades off your paint.
- Installation. Film is laid panel by panel, edges wrapped where safe, and sensors, radar and cameras treated carefully.
- Final check and handover. Every panel, edge and corner is inspected, and you receive the documents your warranty depends on.

How should I care for XPEL PPF in Dubai?
Wait 48 hours before the first wash, then hand wash with clean mitts and keep high-pressure water away from film edges. XPEL’s care guidance gives the same 48-hour rule for ULTIMATE PLUS and STEALTH.
- Rinse sand off thoroughly before any contact wash.
- Avoid automatic car washes, which the warranty excludes.
- Remove bird droppings and bug splatter quickly in summer.
- Never pick at an edge. If something lifts, send us a photo.
- Do not polish STEALTH: it will lose its satin finish.
