What is XPEL window tint?

XPEL window tint is a thin, transparent automotive film applied to the inside of a car’s windows to reduce heat, block UV rays and add privacy while keeping visibility clear. XPEL offers a range of films for different needs, from everyday heat control to high performance options.

XPEL is best known in Dubai for paint protection film, and its window films come from the same focus on optical clarity and durability. Unlike cheap tint that relies on darkness to feel cooler, a high performance XPEL film manages infrared heat through its construction, so a lighter shade can still make a big difference to cabin temperature.

If you are comparing tint in general, our window tinting Dubai guide covers the basics, and our window tint FAQ answers the common questions.

What are the benefits of XPEL window tint?

The benefits of XPEL window tint are strong heat rejection, near-total UV protection, privacy and security, reduced glare and a clean, even look. Each one matters more in Dubai than in most places.

  • Heat rejection: XPEL films reject up to 98% of infrared heat, keeping the cabin cooler, easing the load on the air conditioning and helping fuel efficiency.
  • UV protection: the films block 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting skin and slowing fading and wear of leather, fabric and dashboards.
  • Privacy and security: it is harder for people outside to see in, which can deter theft.
  • Glare reduction: less glare from sunlight and bright headlights makes long drives less tiring.
  • Aesthetics: a range of shades and finishes gives the car a sleek, uniform look.

Why is XPEL tint a good choice for Dubai’s heat?

XPEL tint suits Dubai because it targets infrared heat, the part of sunlight you feel, rather than relying on dark glass. That means real comfort gains in summer temperatures above 45C without making the car hard to see out of at night.

In the UAE a car parked outside can turn into an oven within minutes, and UV is strong all year, not just in summer. A film that blocks 99% of UV protects the interior through every season, while infrared rejection is what makes the first minutes of a drive bearable in July and August. Because XPEL films are not metallic, they also leave GPS, phone and radio signals alone.

On a car with large glass areas the gain is even bigger. In our window tint FAQ we describe a 2024 GMC Hummer EV fitted with XPEL XR Plus on its roof glass, a film rated at up to 98% heat rejection.

Why have XPEL tint fitted at Apex Detail Studio?

We are an XPEL accredited studio, our technicians fit only genuine XPEL films, and every installation takes place in controlled bays at our 20,000 sq ft studio in Al Quoz. You also get aftercare advice and follow-up support once the car leaves.

Genuine film matters because counterfeit or relabelled film is common, and it does not perform or age like the real product. Controlled bays matter because dust and sand are the main cause of specks and bubbles under tint. Our in-house team also fits XPEL paint protection film every day, so tint can be added to a PPF or ceramic job in the same visit, as on this Rolls-Royce Cullinan with PPF and tint.

How is XPEL window tint installed?

XPEL window tint is installed in five steps: consultation, detailed glass cleaning, precision application, final inspection and aftercare. Each step is there to make sure the film fits perfectly and lasts.

  1. Initial consultation: we talk through how you use the car, what you want from the tint and the shade, then recommend the right XPEL film.
  2. Detailed cleaning: the glass is cleaned thoroughly to remove dirt, dust and contaminants, including the seals and edges where grit hides.
  3. Precision application: the film is fitted with close attention to the edges, avoiding bubbles and wrinkles.
  4. Final inspection: we check every window in good light and adjust anything that needs it.
  5. Aftercare: you get clear aftercare instructions, and we offer follow-up support if anything needs attention.

How do you care for XPEL window tint?

Care for XPEL window tint by keeping the windows closed for the first days while the film cures, then cleaning the inside of the glass with a soft microfibre cloth and a non-ammonia cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, blades and stickers on the film.

Dubai sand is the main risk. Grit on the door seals can scratch the film when a window goes down, so wipe the seals and the top of the glass when you wash the car. If you spot a lifted edge or a bubble that does not clear, message us a photo and we will check it. XPEL films carry a manufacturer warranty, and we explain the terms when you book.

Which XPEL tint shade should you choose?

Choose your XPEL tint shade by how you use the car: lighter shades suit owners who drive a lot at night or want a factory look, while darker shades suit owners who value privacy most. Because XPEL films reject heat through their construction, you do not have to go dark to get a cooler cabin.

We usually start with three questions. Do you carry passengers in the back, such as children, who need the most sun protection? Do you drive often after dark or on unlit roads? And how much privacy do you want when the car is parked? The answers point to a shade that balances comfort, privacy and visibility. Every shade we recommend is checked against the current UAE rules for your car, so the tint passes inspection.

If you are unsure, we can show you film samples against the glass in the studio before anything is fitted.

Does XPEL window tint protect the car’s interior?

Yes, XPEL window tint protects the interior by blocking 99% of UV rays and cutting the infrared heat that builds up behind the glass. Those are the two main causes of faded leather, cracked dashboards and dried-out trim in Dubai.

Cabin surfaces in a car parked outside in a UAE summer get much hotter than the air around it. Over months, that heat and UV fade colours, harden soft plastics and dry out leather. Tint slows this down a great deal and keeps seats, steering wheels and buckles more comfortable to touch. For a full cabin refresh, it pairs well with professional car interior cleaning.

How does XPEL tint compare with cheaper window films?

Compared with cheaper window films, XPEL tint rejects more heat at the same shade, holds its colour better in strong sun and does not interfere with signals the way metallic films can. Cheaper films often feel cool only because they are very dark.

Point XPEL window film Budget film
Infrared heat rejection Up to 98% Often much lower
UV blocking 99% Varies
How it feels cooler Film technology Mostly darkness
Signal interference None Possible with metallic films
Warranty Manufacturer warranty Often limited

How much does XPEL window tint cost in Dubai?

XPEL window tint pricing depends on the car and the package; send your car details on WhatsApp for an exact quote. The film you choose, the size of the car and the number of windows are what change the price.

A coupe with side and rear windows is a smaller job than a large SUV with a glass roof, and the higher performance XPEL films cost more than entry options. Send us the make, model and year and we will reply with the right XPEL film for your car and a clear quote. Full service details are on our window tint Dubai page.

Frequently asked questions

How much heat does XPEL window tint block?

XPEL window films reject up to 98% of infrared heat, which is the part of sunlight you feel as heat.

Does XPEL tint block UV rays?

Yes. XPEL window films block 99% of harmful UV rays, protecting skin and the interior.

Is XPEL tint very dark?

It does not need to be. XPEL films control heat through their construction, so lighter shades still keep the cabin cooler.

Does XPEL window tint affect GPS or phone signal?

No. XPEL window films do not interfere with GPS, phone or radio reception.

Can I get XPEL tint and PPF at the same time?

Yes. We fit both in the same visit, so the car is only off the road once.

How do I know my XPEL tint is genuine?

Have it fitted by an XPEL accredited installer. We are XPEL accredited and use only genuine XPEL films.

How long does it take to fit XPEL window tint?

It depends on the car and how many windows are being tinted. We confirm the timing when you book, as larger cars, glass roofs or removal of an old tint take longer.

Can XPEL tint be fitted to a panoramic roof?

Yes. Roof glass can be tinted with XPEL film, and on cars with large glass roofs it makes a clear difference to cabin heat in summer.
