What is XPEL PPF?

XPEL PPF is a paint protection film made from thermoplastic urethane with a self-healing topcoat, fitted over a car’s paint to absorb stone chips, scratches and stains. It is optically clear in gloss form and nearly invisible once installed.

The film is flexible enough to follow curves, recesses and complex bumpers, and tough enough to take the impact of road debris before it reaches the paint. Its topcoat heals light scratches and swirl marks when warmed by the sun or warm water, and resists stains and discolouration from road tar, bird droppings and sap. It is also UV resistant, which matters in a city where cars spend months in heat above 45C.

Unlike a vinyl wrap, which is mainly about colour and offers little impact protection, XPEL PPF is designed first to protect. The paint underneath stays original, and a trained installer can remove the film later without harming sound factory paint.

Which XPEL films do we fit in Dubai?

We mainly fit XPEL Ultimate Plus, the gloss film, and XPEL Stealth, the satin film. XPEL Ultimate Fusion, a gloss film with a hydrophobic topcoat, is also available.

Ultimate Plus is the film most owners choose. It keeps the factory shine, often with added depth, and works on every colour. Stealth changes the sheen without changing the colour, so a gloss white SUV becomes satin white. It also protects factory matte paint without making it shiny. Why is XPEL PPF suited to Dubai driving?

XPEL PPF suits Dubai because it is built to handle exactly what wears paint here: stone chips at highway speed, wind-blown sand, strong UV, summer heat and stains that bake on in the sun. The self-healing topcoat also benefits from the heat.

Daily commutes on Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road throw up gravel and debris that chip bonnets and bumpers within months. Sand and dusty wash routines leave fine scratches. Bird droppings left in the sun can etch clear coat in a day. XPEL film takes these hits on its surface. Light marks in the topcoat fade when the car sits in the sun, so the film often looks better after a hot afternoon than before it.

Which cars do we fit with XPEL PPF?

We fit XPEL PPF on everything from daily family SUVs to supercars, because every car on Dubai roads faces the same chips, sand and sun. The process is the same; the patterns and coverage change from car to car.

Family SUVs collect chips along the bonnet and lower doors and take wear around door cups and loading areas. Sports cars sit low and take more debris on the nose and side intakes. Luxury saloons and grand tourers have large flat panels where any chip shows. Electric cars are often bought new and protected on day one. Because DAP holds patterns for a wide range of models, our in-house team can plan coverage for most cars before they arrive.

Does XPEL PPF change how your car looks?

Gloss XPEL Ultimate Plus keeps the car looking as it left the factory, often with a little extra depth, while XPEL Stealth changes the sheen from gloss to satin without changing the colour. Neither changes the colour of the paint.

With Ultimate Plus, most people cannot tell a car is filmed. The film is optically clear, edges are wrapped into gaps and door jambs, and the paint shows straight through. Dark colours can look deeper and wetter, and metallic flake stays visible. With Stealth, the change is the point: gloss white becomes a soft satin white, and black takes on a frozen look. On cars with factory matte paint, Stealth keeps the matte finish true, which gloss film would not.

How do we install XPEL PPF at Apex?

Every XPEL install starts with a full decontamination wash and paint inspection, then any paint correction the car needs, then film plotted from XPEL’s DAP software and laid in a temperature-controlled bay with edges wrapped and tucked.

1. Wash and inspect. We decontaminate the paint and inspect it under light.
2. Correct where needed. If the paint has swirls or scratches, we recommend correction and quote it upfront before any work starts.
3. Plot the patterns. We use XPEL’s DAP software to plot templates for the exact model, so film is cut on the plotter rather than trimmed on the car. This avoids cut marks in the paint. Read more in our guide to DAP precut PPF.
4. Install indoors. Film goes on in our controlled bays at the 20,000 sq ft Al Quoz studio.
5. Finish the edges. Edges are wrapped behind panel gaps and into door jambs where the panel allows, which makes the film harder to see and less likely to lift.
6. Inspect and hand over. We check every panel and explain aftercare.

The film then cures over roughly 24 to 48 hours, and we ask owners not to wash the car for seven days.

Which XPEL PPF package should you choose?

Most owners start with the front-end package, which covers the areas that take most chips; partial coverage adds high-wear areas; and full body protects every painted panel. Stealth satin film is fitted as full body so the finish is uniform.

• Front end: bonnet, front bumper, headlights, front quarter panels and mirrors. Our most popular option.
• Partial: the front end plus A-pillars, door edges and door cups.
• Full body: every painted panel.

Front-end protection suits owners who mostly drive in the city or plan to keep the car for a shorter time. Full body suits long highway mileage, longer ownership, high-value cars and anyone choosing a satin finish. We also offer XPEL PPF combined with ceramic coating, with the coating applied over the film.

How do you maintain XPEL PPF?

Wash XPEL PPF every one to two weeks with a pH-neutral shampoo, keep high-pressure jets away from film edges, avoid harsh degreasers and remove bird droppings promptly. Wait at least a month before using a brushless drive-through wash.

A ceramic coating over the film adds hydrophobic protection and gloss, and makes washing easier. Light swirl marks usually fade in the sun. Is XPEL PPF covered by a warranty?

Yes. XPEL Ultimate Plus and Stealth carry a manufacturer warranty against defects such as yellowing, cracking, bubbling, peeling and delamination, and our team explains the terms at handover.

As an accredited XPEL installer, we register the warranty for your car. The terms depend on the film and on following the aftercare guidance, so we walk through both before you take the car home.
