What is Audi PPF and why does it matter in Dubai?
Audi PPF is paint protection film: a clear or satin urethane layer cut to the shape of each Audi panel that absorbs stone chips, sand and scratches before they reach the paint. In Dubai it matters because heat, strong UV, sand and flying road debris wear factory paint down fast, and repainting an Audi never quite matches the original.
Audi’s RS models and the R8 are built for speed, and the faster a car is driven on the highway, the harder grit and gravel hit the front bumper, bonnet, mirrors and the wide arches. SUVs like the Q8 spend their lives on long commutes and get sand rash low down the doors. Film takes all of that.
It also helps you avoid the cost and hassle of repainting or restoration, keeps the car looking as it did on delivery and protects resale value, because a buyer can see the paint is original.
Modern film is also smarter than the clear bra kits of the past. The top layer is self-healing, so light scratches and wash swirls relax and disappear with heat, and in Dubai the sun usually does that for you by midday. The film blocks UV that would otherwise fade the colour, and its surface is smoother than bare paint, so dust and water have less to hold on to between washes.
How do we fit PPF on an Audi without removing the logos?
We cut every piece of film from XPEL DAP precut patterns made for the specific Audi, so the film fits the panel exactly and the Audi rings and badges stay on the car. No emblems are removed and no blade is used on the paint.
- Consultation. We talk through how you use the car and whether you want gloss, satin or a colour change.
- Preparation. The car is washed and decontaminated, and polished if needed, because film seals in whatever is underneath.
- Precut film. XPEL DAP software holds patterns for each Audi panel. We plot the film on a cutter rather than trimming on the car.
- Installation. Each panel is fitted in a controlled installation bay, with edges worked cleanly around the grille, sensors and badges.
- Inspection and handover. We check every panel and edge before the car goes home.
On the RS7 this method let us cover the car in film while keeping every Audi logo intact, and on the 2024 R8 the film was precision cut and applied without removing a single emblem.
Precut does not mean rushed. The patterns get the shape right, but the quality still comes from the installer: how well the paint is cleaned, how evenly the film is laid without overstretching, and how neatly each edge is finished. That is why we do every install in-house with our own team rather than subcontracting.

Gloss or matte: which XPEL film suits an Audi?
Choose XPEL Ultimate Plus if you want clear, high-gloss protection that keeps your Audi’s paint looking factory fresh, and XPEL Stealth if you want to turn gloss paint satin without changing the colour. Both are self-healing films.
| Film | Finish | Best for | Audi we fitted it to |
|---|---|---|---|
| XPEL Ultimate Plus | Clear gloss | Owners who love the factory colour and want clarity and self-healing | 2024 Audi R8 |
| XPEL Stealth | Satin | Owners who want a matte look over gloss paint | Audi RS7 |
Satin film suits the sharp lines of RS models particularly well, because it softens reflections and makes creases stand out. Gloss suits metallic and pearl colours where you want the flake to sparkle. For the full range of finishes and coverage levels, read our guide to the types of PPF.
Which Audis have we protected at Apex?
Our Audi work includes XPEL Stealth on an RS7, XPEL Ultimate Plus on a 2024 R8, XPEL window tint on an RS6 and Gtechniq ceramic coating on Audi Q models such as the Q8. Each one was specified around how the owner uses the car.
- Audi RS7: XPEL Stealth PPF for a matte finish, fitted with DAP precut so the Audi logos stayed in place.
- 2024 Audi R8: XPEL Ultimate Plus, precision cut and applied without removing any emblems, for clarity, self-healing and durability.
- Audi RS6: 50% XPEL XR Plus window tint to cut heat and UV in the cabin.
- Audi Q8: Gtechniq ceramic coating for gloss, water beading and chemical resistance.
We have also protected RS6 models since, including the 2024 Audi RS6 Performance PPF build and a Nardo Grey colour PPF on an Audi RS6.
Every Audi is different, so we do not apply a fixed package. A weekend R8 may only need film and coating, while a family Q model that does the school run every day benefits more from tint and lower panel protection. We talk you through the options before we start.

Is windshield PPF worth it on an Audi?
If your Audi spends a lot of time on the highway, windshield PPF is worth considering: XPEL windshield film helps the glass resist chips and cracks from stones and debris. It is a separate clear film designed for glass, fitted alongside the body PPF.
Modern Audi windscreens carry cameras and sensors for driver assistance, so a replacement involves more than a sheet of glass. A protective film on the outside of the screen takes the stone strikes that would otherwise start a chip or a crack. It suits RS owners in particular, because the faster you drive behind trucks, the harder the debris hits.

What else protects an Audi in the UAE: tint, ceramic coating or wraps?
Window tint keeps the cabin cooler and cuts UV, ceramic coating adds gloss, water beading and chemical resistance, and colour wraps change the look while protecting the paint underneath. Most Audi owners in the UAE pair one or more of these with PPF.
- Window tint: we offer XPEL and 3M tints in shades from mild to bold. The RS6 we tinted wears 50% XPEL XR Plus. Read more about our XPEL window tinting in Dubai.
- Ceramic coating: Gtechniq coatings give a deep gloss, hydrophobic behaviour and resistance to chemicals. They can go over PPF or on their own.
- Colour wraps: custom wraps in matte and metallic finishes change the colour while shielding the factory paint.
In Dubai’s climate, with summer heat above 45C, strong UV, sand and humidity, the best results come from combining film on the paint, coating on the film and wheels, and tint on the glass.

Can PPF be removed from an Audi without damaging the paint?
Yes. Quality PPF and wraps fitted over healthy factory paint can be removed later without damaging it, which is why they suit owners who may want to return to the original look before selling. Removal is done with heat and care, panel by panel.
The condition of the paint underneath matters. Factory paint holds up well; poorly repainted panels can be weaker, which is one reason we inspect the car before any film goes on. XPEL films carry a manufacturer warranty, and our team explains the terms for your film when you book. We are XPEL and Gtechniq accredited, and all fitting and removal is done in-house in our 20,000 sq ft Al Quoz studio.
How much does Audi PPF cost in Dubai?
Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT. The final price for your Audi depends on the model, the film, the coverage and the condition of the paint.
An R8 and a Q8 are very different sizes, and satin film is priced differently from gloss. For window tint, ceramic coating and wraps, pricing depends on the car and the package; send your car details on WhatsApp for an exact quote. Frequently asked questions
Is PPF worth it on an Audi RS model in Dubai?
Yes for most owners. RS cars are driven fast on highways where gravel and sand hit hard, and film keeps the original paint intact for resale.
Can you make a gloss Audi matte with PPF?
Yes. XPEL Stealth gives a satin finish without changing the colour, as we did on an Audi RS7.
Do you remove the Audi rings to fit PPF?
No. We use XPEL DAP precut patterns, so logos and emblems stay on the car.
Can PPF be removed without damaging Audi paint?
Yes. Quality film over healthy factory paint can be removed with heat and care, panel by panel.
What window tint did you fit on the Audi RS6?
We fitted 50% XPEL XR Plus tint to cut heat and UV in the cabin.
Can I add ceramic coating to an Audi with PPF?
Yes. Gtechniq ceramic coating can go over the film for extra gloss, water beading and chemical resistance.
How long does it take to fit PPF on an Audi?
It depends on the model and coverage. We confirm the timing when we quote, because the car needs to stay in the studio for preparation, fitting and inspection.
Does PPF work on Audi matte or metallic paint?
Yes. Stealth suits matte or satin looks, and gloss Ultimate Plus keeps the flake in metallic and pearl colours visible.
