Dubai Car Culture: Luxury Cars, Supercars and How Owners Protect Them

Dubai is one of the world's great supercar cities. Here is what owning a luxury car here looks like, why the climate is hard on paint, and how owners keep their cars looking new.

Dubai car culture is built around high-performance and luxury cars: Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bugattis and Rolls-Royces are everyday sights, and owners treat them as a lifestyle. Intense sun, sand and highway debris are hard on that paint, so at Apex Detail Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, we protect these cars with XPEL PPF and ceramic coating. Full-body PPF starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT.

What is Dubai’s car culture like?

Dubai’s car culture mixes high-performance cars, luxury brands and a genuine love of driving. Exotic cars are part of everyday traffic, owners see their cars as an expression of lifestyle, and many invest heavily in keeping them perfect.

It is common to see a Lamborghini Aventador on Sheikh Zayed Road or a Rolls-Royce Cullinan outside the Burj Khalifa. Bugatti, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini all have a strong presence, and the city is often described as an epicentre of automotive luxury. For many owners a car is a status symbol, but for the real enthusiasts it is about engineering, design and the drive itself.

That culture shows in how cars are looked after. A supercar in Dubai is rarely just parked and forgotten. It is detailed, protected and often shown off at events, which is why protection studios are as much part of the scene as the dealerships.

Where do Dubai car enthusiasts meet?

At luxury car shows, track days and casual meets across the city. These events bring owners together to show their cars, share advice and enjoy driving them properly.

Car shows put the rarest models side by side. Track days let owners use the performance that city traffic never allows. Casual meetups, often in the cooler evening hours, are where much of the community’s knowledge is shared, including which studios to trust with paintwork. We engage with owners at community events and are always happy to give advice on protection, whether or not a car ever comes to the studio.

Events also explain why presentation matters so much here. A car that will be photographed up close next to others of the same model has to look flawless, and chips, swirls or faded paint are noticed immediately.

Why is paint protection important for cars in Dubai?

Because Dubai’s climate and roads are hard on paint. Intense sun, sand and occasional rain fade and scratch paint, while debris on highways and desert roads chips the front end. Without protection, even a new supercar starts to show it.

Summer temperatures pass 45C and UV is strong for most of the year, which dulls and oxidises unprotected clear coat. Fine sand settles on cars daily and scratches the surface when wiped off. Long drives on city highways and desert roads throw gravel at bonnets, bumpers and mirrors, and on a supercar with a low nose those chips come quickly.

For high-value cars the stakes are higher. Repainting a panel on a Ferrari or Rolls-Royce is expensive and a repaint affects resale value. That is why so many owners in Dubai fit paint protection film soon after delivery. Our paint protection film service explains the options.

How do Dubai owners protect their luxury cars?

Most combine XPEL paint protection film for chips and scratches, ceramic coating for gloss and easier cleaning, and regular detailing. Here are three cars from our studio that show the approach.

Bentley Continental GT

This Bentley received full XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF using DAP precut patterns, without removing badges or body panels. The job included polishing and paint correction before the film went on, and a yearly maintenance visit. A full tuck-in installation method is also available on cars like this.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

The Stelvio Q was given XPEL Ultimate Plus film, again from DAP precut patterns with no badges or panels removed. It had comprehensive paint correction and a full detail, then Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light ceramic coating, with a yearly service. It is built for both city driving and desert highways. Read the full Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio build.

Special order Porsche 911 Carrera

This 911 Carrera was protected from rock chips and wear across the full body while keeping its gloss. We used a custom full tuck-in pre-application so there are no visible edges, and no parts were removed. The result is a mirror-like finish. See the full Porsche 911 Carrera Viola Metallic build.

What is XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film?

XPEL Ultimate Plus is a clear, gloss paint protection film that guards paint against scratches, rock chips and fading. It is the film we fit most often on luxury and sports cars in Dubai.

The film is applied over the factory paint and is close to invisible when installed well, so the car keeps its original colour and gloss. Light scratches in the top layer self-heal with heat, which Dubai provides in abundance. We cut it from DAP precut patterns, so there is no blade on the paint, and can wrap edges for a near-invisible finish. As an XPEL accredited installer, the film carries the manufacturer warranty, which our team explains at handover.

For owners who want a different look, satin and colour films are also available. Our hub on Lamborghini PPF in Dubai shows how supercar owners choose between finishes.

How do Dubai owners keep supercars looking new between drives?

By keeping them out of the sun, washing them gently and often, and having them detailed regularly. Protection does the heavy lifting, but daily habits decide how the car looks at the next meet.

  • Covered parking: many owners keep weekend cars in shaded or indoor parking, which cuts UV exposure and keeps dust off.
  • Gentle washing: hand or touchless washes with a pH-neutral shampoo and microfibre towels. Automatic brush washes are avoided because they swirl paint and wear film.
  • Dust before it settles: sand is rinsed off rather than wiped off, so it does not scratch the surface.
  • Quick clean-ups: bird droppings and bugs from desert drives are removed the same day, before the heat bakes them on.
  • Regular detailing: a full detail every few months keeps the interior fresh and the protection performing.
  • Yearly check: on cars like the Bentley and Stelvio above, a yearly maintenance visit lets us inspect the film and refresh the finish.

Cars that are driven rarely still need attention. A supercar that sits for weeks collects dust, and its tyres, battery and leather all suffer in the heat. Owners who drive their cars regularly, and keep them protected, tend to have the best-looking cars at any meet, because the car is used, cleaned and checked as part of a routine rather than rescued after months of neglect.

Can you trust a studio with a high-value car?

You should only trust one that shows how it works: indoor bays, accredited installers, precut film, careful preparation and a track record on cars like yours. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our in-house team works in a 20,000 sq ft studio in Al Quoz with controlled installation bays, and we are XPEL and Gtechniq accredited. Supercars and luxury SUVs are routine work for us, from the Rolls-Royce Cullinan to the cars above. We also serve every other kind of car; we specialise in luxury vehicles, but the same process is applied to every car that comes in. For more on the studio itself, read about our car detailing studio in Al Quoz.

How much does it cost to protect a luxury car in Dubai?

Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 12,000 for sedans and AED 13,500 for SUVs and trucks (colour PPF from AED 15,000), depending on options, before 5% VAT. For ceramic coating and detailing, pricing depends on the car and the package; send your car details on WhatsApp for an exact quote.

Price depends on the size and shape of the car, the film and coverage chosen, and how much paint correction is needed first. Against the value of a supercar and the cost of a repaint, protection is a small part of the cost of ownership, and it keeps the car ready for the next meet or show without worrying about the drive there.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Dubai famous for supercars?

The city has a large community of luxury car owners who see cars as a lifestyle, and exotic brands are everyday sights on roads like Sheikh Zayed Road.

Why do Dubai car owners use PPF?

Sun, sand and highway debris fade, scratch and chip paint quickly. Film protects the original paint, which matters for value and appearance.

Do you only work on luxury cars?

No. We specialise in luxury and sports cars, but we protect and detail every type of car with the same process.

What does XPEL Ultimate Plus protect against?

Scratches, rock chips and fading. Light marks in the film self-heal with heat.

How often should a luxury car be detailed in Dubai?

A full detail every three to six months, depending on how often the car is used and how much sun and dust it sees.

Do you need to remove badges to fit PPF?

Not usually. Our precut patterns allow film to be fitted around badges, as on the Bentley and Stelvio, without removing them.

Can PPF be fitted with no visible edges?

Yes. With a full tuck-in installation the film is wrapped around panel edges, as on the special order Porsche 911 Carrera, so no edges show.
