What did we do to this Ducati Diavel V4?

We protected this Ducati Diavel V4 with XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film, a clear, self-healing film that guards the paint against chips, scratches and UV. Before any film went on, the bike was deep cleaned, decontaminated and polished.

The Diavel V4 is a muscular power cruiser built around Ducati’s V4 Granturismo engine, rated at 168 hp. It is a bike owners ride hard and park proudly, and its painted tank, fairings and bodywork sit right in the line of fire for road debris. In Dubai, that means sand, grit thrown up by traffic and long hours in strong sun.

The job had three parts: preparation, so the film sealed in clean, smooth paint; installation with XPEL DAP precut patterns, so nothing was cut on the bike; and a careful finish with every edge tucked and the film heat-set in place.

How was the PPF installed on the Ducati?

We followed five steps: deep cleaning, paint correction, DAP precut application, full tuck-in of the edges, and a final inspection with heat treatment. Each step exists to make the film look invisible and stay in place.

1. Deep cleaning and decontamination. Dirt, grease and bonded contaminants were removed from every painted surface, because anything left behind would be trapped under the film.
2. Paint correction and polishing. Fine scratches were polished out so the film sealed in a smooth, glossy finish rather than old marks.
3. DAP precut application. The film was cut from XPEL’s DAP precut patterns, so there was no trimming on the bike and no badges or body panels had to come off. No blade touched the paint.
4. Full tuck-in. The film edges were wrapped around and tucked in wherever the panel shape allows, for a factory-like finish with no visible lines.
5. Inspection and heat treatment. We checked every piece for alignment and adhesion, then heat-set the film so it settled firmly onto the curves.

What does the finished Diavel V4 look like?

The finished Diavel V4 looks exactly as Ducati intended, with glossy, freshly polished paint under a clear film whose edges are tucked out of sight. You have to know the film is there to find it.

Because the paint was corrected before installation, the finish under the film is cleaner than it was when the bike arrived. The hydrophobic top layer makes water and dirt bead off, which helps after a dusty ride, and light marks in the film fade away with heat.
