This BMW K1300S sport-touring motorcycle came to Apex Detail Studio in Al Quoz, Dubai, for a full detail and ceramic coating. We foam washed and hand washed the bike, decontaminated it, corrected the paint to remove swirls and light scratches, then applied Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light. What did we do to this BMW K1300S?

We gave this BMW K1300S a full detail, paint correction and a Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light ceramic coating. The bike left cleaner than when it arrived, with swirl marks polished out and a hard, glossy coating sealing the paint.

The K1300S is a sport-touring bike, built to cover long distances quickly. That means road grime, tar, brake dust and heat build up on the paint, the engine and the frame, and a bike’s exposed layout lets dirt reach places a car hides. In Dubai, add fine sand and strong sun. A coating only performs as well as the surface it bonds to, so most of the work on this bike was preparation.

Bikes also need a lighter, more careful touch than cars. Electrics, switchgear and the area around the seat sit close to the panels being cleaned, so we work section by section and protect sensitive parts, such as the headlight, while polishing nearby.

How was the K1300S detailed and coated?

We worked in three stages: a careful wash and decontamination, paint correction, then the coating. Each stage removed something that would otherwise be locked under the coating.

1. Foam wash. The whole bike was foamed to soften dirt before anything touched the paint.
2. Hand wash. We hand washed the tank, front fairing, side panels and the area around the seat, then rinsed.
3. Engine and frame. The engine and frame area were cleaned, with extra attention to the engine, wheels and body panels.
4. Drying. The tank and panels were dried with a soft towel.
5. Decontamination. Chemical and mechanical decontamination removed embedded tar and iron particles.
6. Paint correction. Professional compounds and polishers removed swirl marks and light scratches. We taped around the headlight to protect it while polishing nearby.
7. Panel wipe. A dedicated panel wipe removed polishing oils so the coating could bond directly to the paint.
8. Coating. Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light was applied to the prepared surfaces.

What does the finished BMW K1300S look like?

The finished K1300S has deep, clear gloss on the tank and fairings, with the swirls gone and a slick, water-repellent surface. The exhaust, dash and front end were all part of the final check.

Because the paint was corrected before coating, the shine is not just the coating: it is clean, level paint under a protective layer. Water now beads and rolls off, dust has less to cling to, and the bike can be washed quickly after a ride without scrubbing.
