What did we do to this Xiaomi SU7 Max?
We ceramic coated the Xiaomi SU7 Max with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra and topped it with Gtechniq EXO V5, after a full wash, decontamination and polish.
The SU7 Max is Xiaomi’s high-performance electric saloon, and this car was one of only 13 in the UAE when it came to us. Rare cars are hard to replace and parts or paint matching can take time, so the owner wanted strong protection for the paint from the start. A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and forms a hard, glossy layer that makes the car easier to keep clean and better at resisting the Dubai environment.
Why choose Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra on an SU7 Max?
Crystal Serum Ultra is Gtechniq’s hard ceramic layer, chosen for deep gloss and resistance to scratches, swirl marks, UV, chemicals and environmental fallout.
On its own, Crystal Serum Ultra gives the paint a dense protective shell. EXO V5 goes on top as a slick, hydrophobic layer, so water, dust and dirt slide off rather than sticking. That combination suits Dubai well: summer heat above 45C, strong UV, sand in the air and frequent washing all wear on unprotected paint, and an easy-clean surface means fewer hard washes. How was the ceramic coating applied to the SU7 Max?
We prepared the paint in three stages, washing, decontamination and inspection, then polished it before applying Crystal Serum Ultra and EXO V5.
- Wash. A full hand wash to remove loose dirt and dust.
- Decontamination. Removing bonded contaminants so the coating bonds to bare clear coat.
- Inspection. Checking every panel under light for marks.
- Polishing. Machine polishing to remove minor swirl marks, because a coating locks in whatever finish is underneath.
- Crystal Serum Ultra. The hard ceramic base layer applied panel by panel.
- EXO V5. The hydrophobic top layer, applied over the base to add slickness and water beading.
The work was done in the controlled bays of our 20,000 sq ft Al Quoz studio by our in-house team, so dust and heat did not affect the coating as it cured.
What does the finished SU7 Max look like?
The finished SU7 Max has a deep, glassy gloss, and water beads and rolls straight off the paint.
Because the light swirls were polished out before coating, the reflections are clean and sharp across the long panels of the saloon. Day to day, dust rinses off more easily and the paint stays cleaner between washes. How do you look after a ceramic coated SU7 Max?
Wash it gently with a pH-neutral shampoo and clean microfibre, and avoid harsh brushes and automatic car washes.
A coating is protection, not armour, so washing technique still matters. Rinse the dust off first, use the two-bucket method, and dry with a soft towel. Should you add PPF to a ceramic coated Xiaomi SU7 Max?
It depends on how you drive: ceramic coating handles gloss, UV and easy cleaning, while paint protection film is what stops stone chips and deeper scratches.
For a car that spends most of its time in the city, a coating on its own is often enough. If the car does a lot of motorway driving, where gravel and sand are thrown up by other vehicles, PPF on the front end or the whole car adds physical protection, and a coating can then go on top of the film for the same easy-clean finish.
