This silver-grey Mercedes-AMG G63 came to Apex Detail Studio for two things: full paint protection film on the outside and a custom starlight headliner inside. The Mercedes-AMG G63 full PPF covers every painted panel against stone chips, sand and scratches. Full PPF for SUVs at Apex starts from AED 13,500 before VAT, depending on options.

The G63 is built to be driven everywhere, from Downtown to the desert, and its upright, flat panels catch everything the road throws at them. Stone chips on the bonnet and front wings, sand blasting on the lower doors and scratches around the rear are all common on G-Class models in Dubai.

This owner wanted the paint kept as it left the factory and wanted the cabin to feel special at night as well. So the job had two parts: a full body of clear PPF outside and a custom starlight headliner inside.

What was done to this Mercedes-AMG G63?

Every painted panel was covered in clear, gloss paint protection film, and a starlight headliner was fitted in the cabin.

Clear PPF is invisible once fitted. The silver-grey paint looks exactly as it did before, but it now sits under a tough, self healing layer. Light swirls fade with heat, and the film takes the chips that would otherwise reach the paint. Inside, the starlight headliner adds small points of light across the roof lining, which looks striking above the red leather seats.

Why choose Mercedes-AMG G63 full PPF?

Because the G-Class shape takes more hits than most cars, and repainting a G63 panel to factory standard is expensive and shows up when you sell.

  • Flat front and wings: the upright nose and bonnet take stone chips head on at highway speed.
  • Wide arches: the flared wheel arches catch grit and sand thrown up by the tyres.
  • Doors and sides: car park dings and scratches from bags and keys are common on a car this tall.
  • Resale: original paint with no resprays is worth more when the car is sold.

We have protected many G-Class models. Our 2025 G63 PPF article shows another one, and how we install PPF explains our method in detail.

How was the PPF fitted on the G63?

Panel by panel, by hand, with the film wrapped around edges and worked carefully into the wheel arch flares.

The flat doors and rear quarters on a G-Class are straightforward, but the details are not. The wheel arch flares, the rear light surrounds, the door handles and the edges around the spare wheel carrier all need careful cutting and stretching so the film sits flat and the edges do not lift. Installers trimmed by hand around each part so the film follows the exact shape of the body.

  1. The car was washed, decontaminated and inspected under the studio lights.
  2. Each panel was cleaned again just before the film went on.
  3. Film was laid with fitting solution and positioned on the panel.
  4. Installers squeegeed it flat and worked it into curves and flares.
  5. Edges were trimmed and wrapped where the panel allows.
  6. The car was left to settle, then checked for lifting edges before handover.

The reel shows the film going on, the wheel arches being worked by hand and the starlight headliner lit up inside.

Clear gloss or matte film on a G63?

This owner chose clear gloss film, so the silver-grey paint looks exactly as it did from the factory. Some G-Class owners go the other way and choose a matte or satin film, which turns gloss paint into a flat, modern finish while still protecting it.

Both films protect the paint in the same way. The choice is about the look you want. Gloss keeps the deep shine that Mercedes paint is known for. Matte gives the G-Class a tougher, more military look that suits its shape. If you are unsure, we can show you both finishes on a panel of your car in the studio before you decide.

Can you add tint or ceramic coating as well?

Yes. Many G-Class owners add window tint for a cooler cabin, and a ceramic coating on top of the film makes washing easier, since dust and water slide off the surface more readily. These can be done in the same visit, so the car comes back finished in one go.

What is a starlight headliner?

A roof lining fitted with many small fibre optic points of light, so the ceiling of the cabin looks like a night sky.

On this G63 the effect is set against black roof lining and red leather seats, so the small lights stand out clearly at night. It is a custom interior upgrade, and every car is different, so the layout and price are confirmed once we see the car. Send us a message on WhatsApp if you would like one in your car.

Aftercare for a G63 with PPF

  • Wait about a week before the first full wash.

  • Remove bird droppings and sap quickly in the heat.
  • Book a check at the studio if any edge starts to lift.
