This stainless steel Tesla Cybertruck left Apex Detail Studio gloss black, wrapped in full colour change paint protection film. The colour changes completely, while the original stainless steel stays protected underneath and can be revealed again later. The door shuts and inside of the tailgate were finished in peelable paint in our spray booth so no steel shows when the doors open. If you want Cybertruck colour PPF in Dubai, this build shows the whole process on the exact truck.

What was done to this Tesla Cybertruck?
The whole exterior was wrapped in gloss black colour change PPF, then the door shuts and inner tailgate were sprayed with gloss black peelable paint.
Colour PPF is a paint protection film with the colour built in. It changes the look like a wrap, but it is thicker and self-healing like clear PPF, so it also protects the stainless steel from scratches, scuffs and stone chips. On a Cybertruck, where the bare steel cannot be polished like a clear coat, that protection matters. Our Cybertruck stainless steel PPF guide explains why.
Why choose colour PPF instead of a vinyl wrap on a Cybertruck?
Colour PPF lasts longer, protects better and heals light scratches, while vinyl is thinner and mainly cosmetic.
The Cybertruck’s flat stainless panels show every mark, so a film that also absorbs damage is a better long-term choice. The colour change is still fully reversible: remove the film and the original steel is underneath. We have also turned a Cybertruck green with colour PPF, if you want to compare colours.
How did Apex Detail Studio turn the Cybertruck black?
We wrapped the truck panel by panel, then moved it into the spray booth for the door shuts.
- Surface preparation. The stainless panels were cleaned and prepared so the film bonds evenly.
- Colour PPF installation. Large sheets of gloss black film were laid with slip solution and squeegeed out panel by panel.
- Edges and details. Door edges were wrapped, and the film was trimmed around the light bar, rear lights and tailgate.
- Door shuts and tailgate. In the spray booth, the shuts and inner tailgate were masked and sprayed with gloss black peelable paint.
- Final reveal. The finish was checked under studio lighting before handover.
Our installation process guide covers each stage in more detail.
Step by step on this Cybertruck
These stills come from the full build video further down the page, so every photo shows this exact car in our Al Quoz studio.

Why were the door shuts painted with peelable paint?
Film cannot easily reach every inner edge of the door shuts, so we used gloss black peelable paint there to finish the colour change.
Without it, bare stainless steel would show every time a door or the tailgate opens. Peelable paint matches the look, and like the film it can be removed later to return the truck to standard.

How much does colour PPF cost on a Tesla Cybertruck in Dubai?
Full-body PPF at Apex starts from AED 11,000 depending on the film, before 5% VAT; colour films and the Cybertruck’s size are priced on top, so send your details for an exact quote.
The price depends on the colour film, the coverage and whether you want door shuts finished too. Our PPF cost guide for Dubai explains what affects the price.

How do you care for a gloss black Cybertruck?
Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, rinse sand off first, and dry with clean microfibre towels so the gloss black stays swirl-free.
Gloss black shows dust and water spots quickly in Dubai, so rinse soon after driving through dust or rain. Avoid brush car washes. A ceramic coating over the film makes washing easier and adds extra gloss.

Frequently asked questions
What did Apex Detail Studio do to this Cybertruck?
We wrapped the whole exterior in gloss black colour change PPF and finished the door shuts and inner tailgate in gloss black peelable paint.
Is colour PPF on a Cybertruck reversible?
Yes. The film and peelable paint can be removed professionally, and the original stainless steel is underneath.
Does colour PPF protect the stainless steel?
Yes. Colour PPF is a protection film, so it absorbs scratches, scuffs and stone chips that would otherwise mark the steel.
Why not just use a vinyl wrap?
Vinyl is thinner and mostly cosmetic. Colour PPF is thicker, self-healing and protective, which suits the Cybertruck’s flat steel panels.
