Tesla Cybertruck PPF in Dubai: Stainless Steel and Colour-Film Options

Why the Tesla Cybertruck's bare stainless steel body benefits from PPF, and how clear, satin and colour films change its look and protection.

Share on WhatsApp 8 Oct 2026 · 6 min read

Quick answer: The Tesla Cybertruck has an unpainted stainless steel body, so scratches, scuffs and fingerprints mark the metal itself and cannot simply be polished out of a clearcoat or repainted like a normal car. PPF adds a replaceable layer that takes that damage instead. Owners in Dubai can choose clear gloss film, satin film, or a coloured film to change the truck’s look. At Apex Detail Studio, full-body PPF for a vehicle of this size starts from AED 11,000, depending on the film, before 5% VAT.

Key facts

  • Bare metal: the Cybertruck body is stainless steel with no paint or clearcoat to absorb scratches.
  • Repair is hard: scratches in brushed stainless are difficult to blend, so prevention matters more than on a painted car.
  • Finishes: clear gloss, satin (+AED 500) or coloured film for a full change of look.
  • Prices at Apex: full-body PPF from AED 11,000, depending on the film, before 5% VAT.
  • Fingerprints: film makes the body far easier to keep clean than bare stainless steel.

The Cybertruck turns heads on every road in Dubai, but its stainless steel body behaves very differently from painted bodywork. There is no clearcoat to polish and no paint to touch up. A scratch from a car park pillar, a shopping trolley or a careless jet wash is a mark in the metal itself.

This is why many owners fit PPF soon after delivery, and why a growing number use it to change the colour of the truck at the same time. This guide covers what the film protects, the finish options, and what makes a Cybertruck installation different.

Why does a stainless steel Cybertruck need PPF?

A stainless steel Cybertruck benefits from PPF because the body has no protective paint layer. On a normal car, light scratches sit in the clearcoat and can often be polished out. On a Cybertruck, they go straight into the metal.

Issue Painted car Bare stainless Cybertruck
Light scratches Usually polished out of the clearcoat Marked into the metal; hard to blend into the brushed grain
Stone chips Paint chips, touch-up or repaint possible Dents or marks in the metal; repair options are limited
Fingerprints and smudges Rarely visible Very visible, especially on doors and the tailgate

PPF takes those scratches and smudges on its own surface, and it can be replaced panel by panel without touching the steel underneath.

What PPF finish options are there for a Cybertruck?

There are three main options: clear gloss, satin, and coloured film. All three protect the steel; they differ in how the truck looks afterwards.

  • Clear gloss film: keeps the stainless look but adds a glossy, slightly deeper appearance. Easier to wipe clean than bare metal.
  • Satin film: STEALTH gives a satin finish that stays closer to the original brushed look. It adds AED 500 to a full-body XPEL package at Apex. See our guide to XPEL STEALTH.
  • Coloured film: changes the colour of the whole truck while still giving PPF-level protection, a popular choice for black or other dark Cybertrucks in Dubai.

PPF is thicker than vinyl and self-healing. Our comparison of colour PPF vs vinyl wrap explains the differences in protection, finish and removal. Colour availability changes, so we confirm current options when quoting.

What makes a Cybertruck PPF installation different?

The large, flat panels, sharp creases and stainless steel surface all change how the film is handled.

  • Panel size: the doors, bed sides and tonneau area are large, so film must be laid without seams in visible places where possible.
  • Sharp edges: the creases and panel edges need careful wrapping so the film does not lift at the corners.
  • Surface preparation: stainless steel must be completely clean and free of oils and fingerprints before film goes on, or adhesion suffers.
  • Lights and sensors: the front and rear light bars, cameras and sensors need precise cut-outs.
  • Glass: the large windscreen and windows are separate from the body film. Tint is a separate service, covered in our guide to window tint for Tesla and electric vehicles.

Which areas of a Cybertruck should be covered first?

If full body is not in the plan, cover the areas that take the most contact first: the front, the lower body, the door edges and the bed area.

  1. Front fascia, bonnet area and the light bar surround, which take highway debris.
  2. Lower doors and sills, which take grit from the tyres.
  3. Door edges and handle areas, which collect fingerprints and scratches.
  4. Bed rails and tailgate, which take scuffs from loading gear.

Partial coverage on a stainless body leaves visible film edges, especially with satin or coloured film. Most Cybertruck owners in Dubai who want film choose full body for a consistent look. Our article on partial PPF packages explains the trade-offs.

How does Apex Detail Studio install PPF on a Cybertruck?

Every Cybertruck goes through the same controlled process at our Al Quoz studio.

  1. Inspection. We record any existing scratches, dents or marks on the steel with you.
  2. Deep cleaning. The stainless surface is washed and degreased to remove oils, fingerprints and water spots.
  3. Patterns. Vehicle-specific digital patterns are checked against the truck and adjusted for full coverage on the large panels.
  4. Installation. Film is laid panel by panel, with edges wrapped around the sharp creases where safe.
  5. Final inspection. Every panel, edge, light bar and camera is checked under studio lighting.

A standard full-body installation generally takes two to three days, and colour changes can take longer. Our installation process guide shows each stage.

How do I look after a filmed Cybertruck?

Wash by hand with a pH-neutral shampoo, dry with a clean microfibre towel, and keep pressure-washer nozzles away from film edges.

Film is far more forgiving than bare stainless steel: fingerprints wipe off easily. Many owners add ceramic coating over the PPF to make the surface even easier to clean. Owners of other Teslas may also find our Tesla Model Y PPF guide useful.

Frequently asked questions

Can you put PPF on a stainless steel Cybertruck?

Yes. PPF bonds to clean stainless steel and protects it from scratches, scuffs, fingerprints and water spots. The surface must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased before installation.

Why should a Cybertruck get PPF if it has no paint?

Because scratches go straight into the steel. Without a clearcoat to polish, marks in brushed stainless are hard to repair, so a replaceable film layer is the most practical protection.

Can PPF change the colour of a Cybertruck?

Yes. Coloured PPF changes the look of the truck while still giving the impact and scratch protection of urethane film. We confirm the current colour options and price when quoting.

How much does Cybertruck PPF cost in Dubai?

At Apex Detail Studio, full-body PPF for a vehicle of this size starts from AED 11,000, depending on the film, before 5% VAT. Satin STEALTH film adds AED 500, and coloured film is quoted per car.

Is satin or gloss PPF better on a Cybertruck?

Satin PPF stays closer to the original brushed stainless look. Gloss film gives a shinier, deeper finish. Both protect equally; the choice is about appearance.

Can the film be removed later?

Yes. Quality PPF is designed to be removed professionally without damaging the surface underneath. Removal should be done with heat and care, not by pulling the film off cold.
